The Peace Disc isn't that bad
« on: August 15, 2002, 10:50:09 AM »
I used to depise that Cube album. I listened to it for the first time in over a year and even though it isn't traditional Cube, it's a decent record. I can't believe I almost sold this a few months back.

Who said it was bad? It was just a huge let down, that's all...I've always considered it average (Or even above average)...But what people were expecting were a bunch of peacefull songs like "Today Was a Good Day", and shit like that...It's not the Cube we were expecting, and thats why people didnt like it...peace

True it was a tight lp....

But I think most of the heat came from "Hardcore" old school Ice Cube fan's who bumped since day one, who never really adjusted to Cube being kind on a record....lol
we were spoiled by Cube in the 90's.....
We wanted the Product.....
We wanted "Tha Bitch Killa"
We wanted Cube to teach....
We wanted Cube to Preach...
We wanted Cube to crush & mash on the government.
We wanted Cube Say Fuck the Radio...
But we (90's fan's) forgot that Cube ain't 21 any more.... :'(

But.....the "War" disc brought out a glimpse of the old Cube....so we were expecting at least a lil' grime, but got the Peace.
Which was a stelllar cd for anyone else....but for Cube.
It was one of his good one's. IMO

Trust me it took a long time to get over that, ask any Cube Fan from the solo "AmeriKKKaz most wanted" days, or before.

Peace

I always thought it was underrated, in fact out of the two "war and peace" disks I always thought the "war disk" sucked dick,  peace disk is decent.

We are all human beings isn't that a good enough reason for peace?

I still think the War Disc was better because I like that dark shit. I've finally learned to love Peace Disc at least.

Damn I could not have said that better!! Straight Outta Compton to Amerikkka's Most Wanted to Kill At Will to Death Certificate remember that feeling that Cube could do no wrong. I think John Singleton said it best in the year end Source issue for 1991 (my favorite year for West Coast hip hop) he could talk to the gods and the knuckleheads. I guess I'm just stuck on that Cube, promoting St. Ides while reading The Final Call! lol I think the Peace disc is tight anyway but it's hard to look at it objectively when you consider his discography.

peace,

I anticipated it to and was let down at first.

And War Disc is the shit. So many dope tracks like Pushin Weight, Fuck Dying, Ghetto Vet, The Peckin Order etc. etc. etc.

War disc was good but Pushin Weight was one of the worst songs Cube has ever released, second only to You Can Do It. I liked the Peace disc even the Puffy produced Got To Be Insanity. Its not as bad as people say it is.
