Move Over Fredwreck...
« on: August 14, 2002, 07:21:00 AM »
Back last year when Fredwreck was going through his identity crisis as Dr. Dre he came up with some beats that imitated Dre's very well.

I thought no one could get as close as he did till I heard this guy Seven.  He produced the new Eve single, "Gangsta Lovin" with Alicia Keys.  The first time I heard this song I thought for sure it was that new Dre track with Truth Hurts, or a beat done by like Scott Storch.  But I found out it was this guy.  He got Dre's sound down perfectly.

I think it is ridiculous though how he took that style.  He got those atmospheric sounds, and the keys sound just like the keys from Eve's hit last year, "Let Me Blow Ya Mind."  I guess Eve didn't want to pay the big bucks for another hit single, so she found this dude.

I still find it funny how producers are dcathing up to his style now, after it dropped in '99.

Dre:  Time to change the game.

Uhhh, I dont think it sounds like a Dre track at all...LoL...And I have an ear for music...Fredwreck did the Dre immitating way better with "Hardest Muthafuckaz" and "Legend Of Jimmy Bones"...Although Fredwreck didn't sound exact liky Dre neither...Fredwreck lacked the Deep bass which Dre uses in most of his beats...But that was about it...This Seven guy sounds nothing like Dre too me...Maybe some instruments are similar, but that's all...

LoL.  Listen again...to those firework type noises going on in the background...the main keyboard sound is the same as to "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" too.  Those too things are what make up most of the song.  Even the drums resemble what Dre uses.

I have an ear for music too.   :D ;) 8)

who tha fuck cares.  Just cause one producer uses one kind of instrument doesn't make it his.  I play live bass.  Does that make me a bitter of Warren G?  i think not.  and I don't think Fred ever really sounded like Dre.  He has his own styles.

I'm not complainging cause they use the same instruments...hell no.  It's just that he bites Dre's style so much with that beat.  The way he used em to copy Dre.

I'm with incognito on this one.  When i first heard it, i thought it was dre related, but after a few listens i figured it wasn't.  Plus at the beggining of the song they go "Murder inc, ruff ryders"

The first few seconds of the song I thought it was Dre, cause it sounded so much like him, but then I didn'y hear Truth Hurts.  I thought then it was Storch.

J Prince and Rap A Lot Records before that.  I'll scan this news feature on Seven and post it.  Here's a little quote to help kinda clear things up on who this guy is and where he came from.

Axle

"his situation indeed has dept.  According to J. Prince, founder of Rap A Lot Records, Seven recently drafted a declaration stating he signed an exclusive producer and publishing agreement with Rap A Lot Records in 1999.  The contract doesn't expire until 2002, hence Prince says he's owed a hefty sum from Famous Music, Murder Inc's publishing company."

It doesn't sound like a Dre beat to me. I'd pick Fred over that Seven guy anyday.

So would I, Fred does make tighter beats.  But this is the closest anyone's come to Dre besides the folx who work with him, Mel-Man & Scott Storch.
