To Worship Allah

do you really think thats all Allah wants you to do ?

Yes, because Islam is a comprehensive religion, it is program whereby you strive to maintain a constant state of submission to the will of Allah, it is interwoven into everything a Muslim does.

what are you going to get out of life worshipping Allah all the time ? yes being spiritual is a good thing, but we werent created just to worship God....

i guess do what makes you happy, if thats what makes you happy and its the truth, fuck it then do it... my life philosophy is do what pleases you, at the same time treating everyone and everything the same way as you would like yourself... thats my religion.

^ yeah thats pretty much how i am..

this is a reply to what infinite posted about islam being comprehensive..

ok..now this leads me to something a local priest once told me.

bear with me 'finite..

in essence he said that christianity isnt all about beliiving in god, jesus and everything as fact.. but in believing that the moral messages and stories, fables whatever set down in the bible when followed with or without guidance from the church _still_ make you a christian.

by that definition i am a christian.. now i dont consider myself one although i have been christened into the COE, and as a child i was pretty much forced against my will to go to sunday school, and was involved in organisations like cub scouts where church was a part of the organisation. all through this entire time i never ever "believed" in god. i never went to church out of free will. i believe however i am a morally 'good' person because i have a strong conscience.

personally i have a paradox. i have a respect for the moral guidelines set down by organised religious processes.. not just christian ones. but i have a huge distaste for anything that seeks to ostracise, to make examples of or to interfere too much in peoples lives as an example i believe contraception, abortion, issues of mixing race in marriage etc are down to the individual rather than a controlling religious OR political system.

in essence.. outside belief, i believe religion in terms of personal growth, guideance, and in times where support is needed is a good thing. and a bad thing when it gets too deep into every day living.

now i know in christianity people take things literally too.. and some would call you sinner for doubting.. but i'm curious.. but i was amazed this at how this priest explained it to me..

now a question for infinite..

without belief... is someone following islamic codes and practices who doesnt believe in allah, but believes in the moral code and guidelines of the religion.. perhaps one who see's allah as being the good side of self, of conscience and of character.. is that person accepted like they are in christianity?

Your still not understanding what I'm saying... it's not like I have to go off in a corner and to worship Allah all day, Islam is a comprehensive religion, even when I'm having sex with my wife that is an act of worship; it is related that the Prophet Muhammad (saws) taught the Muslims that when one is having intercourse with his wife he is safe and secure from the temptations of the Shatan that can be found outside the home.   Anything we do we do in the name of Allah and it becomes an act of worship.  Our job, our dealings with people in business we deal in fairness, charging interest is a sin in Islam, etc... there is even a supplication we make before and after entering the bathroom, etc., etc., it's a constant state of submission we strive for.

First of all, thank you for actually addressing me with decency (for the first time in a long time).

Second of all, I don't know the answer to that question, but maybe if you ask it in another way I will be able to answer it.

i'm not sure how to word it another way...

when i said "one who see's allah as being the good side of self, of conscience and of character" i meant it in the sense that god or allah is a metaphor and not a 'real' entity in a physical sense...  i.e. like worshipping a man or an idol...

if somene were to say that when you worship allah.. you actually worship the good in self, the good in humanity as defned by rules in the koran... and not actually a a defined 'god'.. but whole system of thought/consciousness

is it me.. or has this thead been off topic from the start.. or is the subject wrong?

"your purpose in life" isnt anything to do with your aspirations and ambitions. not that i'm knocking them.. far from it!

No; I totally understood the question, I have a good grasp on the english language, and I responded with what I believe my purpose is, not my aspirations.  Do you think my aspirations are to be a friend?  I can die now, then.

I still don't know the answer to your question.

Allah isn't a physical entity like a man or an idol, Allah is the Creator of the Worlds and All the Systems of Knowledge, so he is greater than his creation, he is unique from his creation, and he is unlike anything in his creation.  Allah (The Creator) is a reality.  The fact that we are here means that something had to of created us, and that their had to be something that was first, before everything.  Well, that something is what Muslims worship, the first, the last, the eternal, the Creator, the Most high, that's what Muslims worship.  You know how you hear people say they believe in a higher power, that's what Muslims worship, the highest power.

Your question doesn't correlate to the Christian situation because Christians worship the creation, they worship a human that lived within the creation.  Muslims don't worship anything in the creation, Muslims only worship the Creator.  So you can't compare the situation.

Allah is not "comparable" to anything, he is greater than all things, but I understand what you are saying, I just wouldn't say it like that and I wouldn't use the word "comparable".

...The Noble Qu'ran teaches that you can see evidence of the Creator by studying the wonders of creation.  There is an interconnectedness of nature and mankind, there is an order to life, and man must find a way to get in harmony with that order.

it depends upon how large you give mother nature credit for..

i think the problem is you refer to allah as a he.. why use gender?

mother nature remains as many ancient earth religions worshipped big fat naked women as symbols of fertility.

remember the earth is the giver of life, nature controls the seasons and how the sun rises and sets, the tides of the seas..

is allah said to be a he? or could allah be a she? or is allah really neither?
