"Stankonia" album appreciation thread...
« on: May 11, 2005, 08:37:42 PM »
"Don't everybody like the smell of gasoline?
Well burn motherfucka burn American Dream
Don't everybody like the taste of Apple Pie?
We'll snap for your slice of life I'm tellin' ya why
I hear that mother nature's now on birth control
The coldest pimp be looking for somebody to hold
The highway up to Heaven got a crook on the toll
Youth full of fire ain't got nowhere to go nowhere 2 go"
-Andre 3000

......Gasoline Dreams sets it off proper and then there's no need to skip any tracks on this album, you can put it in and let it play from beggining to end, it's a concept album and the whole album has it's own sound that is unique from any other hip-hop album on the market.  The album is very grown and mature, yet it was still contained cross-over appeal and even the young kids were bumpin it.  Drop your thoughts and appreciation for one of the best hip-hop albums of all time.

How about showing some appreciation for the guest appearances on this album?  B-Real kills it, "Fuck XXL your a size to small/ I should hire Eminem to come and kill you all!" (Remember XXL called Eminem a culture stealer when he first came out)   Or how about Erykah Badu in her track with X-boyfriend Andre... that track is beautiful!  Then all of Outkasts homeboys from the ATL come tight, this album deserved every mic it recieved from the Source (5 mic classic).

Great album.

All the singles picked were incredible too ("B.O.B.", "Ms. Jackson", "So Fresh, So Clean").

very good album. BOB might be one of the most musically elaborate tracks ever done in hiphop...Outkast are among the very very few artists in hiphop that i consider really good musicians, and this album is creative and just dope as hell

Yeah a real nice album, Spaghetti Junction was the epitamy of tightness. Also Speakerboxxx was dope, 'Reset' and 'Flip Flop Rock' my favurite tracks. I wish they would hit the studio again...

Flip Flop Rock was sick when I first heard it. It got me hyped for their double album like crazy.

I let some broad borrow this cd...big mistake.

This album was tight. I think it was slightly underrated.

Another one of the reasons Outkast is the GOAT they go so well together, and we've seen them flourish apart, both extremly talented cats who never-EVER disappoint Ilove Outkast, I wish they would tour, I'm waitin for that soundtrack thing they're workin on.
