With the season nearly finished, a huge step forward was taken by Juventus in their match versus Parma, while Milan took a step backward.
At the Stadio Delle Alpi, Juventus defeated visiting Parma 2-0. Alessandro Del Piero opened the scoring in just the 6th minute. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, returning to play after serving a suspension for hitting an opposing player, scored the clincher in the 23rd minute, and Juventus never looked back. This victory keeps Juve in top spot, while Parma remain in fifteenth.

The 2-2 draw between Lecce and Milan at the Stadio Via del Mare could be the result that clinches the Scudetto title for Juventus. Milan took the lead in the 12th minute through defender Kakhaber Kaladze. Lecce shocked Milan by leveling the score immediately after the break. Andriy Shevchenko grabbed back the lead in the 53rd, but Mirko Vucinic equalized in the 82nd minute, and Milan could not get another. This draw now places Milan five points behind Juve, and only a massive collapse by the Turin outfit would allow Milan any chance for the title. Lecce’s hard-earned draw moves the Giallorossi up to eleventh place in the standings.

At the Stadio Olimpico, the Rome derby between Roma and Lazio was fairly uneventful, with the match finishing in a scoreless draw. Roma remain dangerously close to the relegation zone in fourteenth place, but Lazio move up to tenth place.

Milan’s hometown rivals Internazionale defeated Livorno at the San Siro in Milan, 1-0. The lone strike was scored by Christian Vieri, who has rediscovered his form by scoring some valuable goals. Both sides keep their standings in the table, with Inter in third and Livorno in ninth place.

The battle for the final Champions League spot did not really decide much, as Udinese and Sampdoria drew 1-1 at the former's home ground. Sampdoria went ahead in the 25th through Marcello Castellini, but his teammate Marco Pisano leveled the match for Udinese with an own goal in the 36th minute. So, Udinese and Sampdoria stay fourth and fifth in the standings.

Messina and Cagliari played an exciting match at Messina’s Stadio Giovanni Celeste, with the home side winning 2-1. Gaetano D’Agostino gave Messina the lead with a penalty kick goal right before the interval. Edgar Alvarez equalized shortly after halftime in the 52nd minute, and Nicola Amoruso scored the match-winner late on in the 87th. Messina and Cagliari stay in seventh and eighth place, respectively, but this win moves Messina four points clear of their nearest competition.

Palermo secured a home draw versus Reggina, 1-1. Giandomenico Mesto gave Reggina the advantage in the 36th minute. Palermo stole the draw right from under Reggina, when Simone Barone leveled deep into second half stoppage time. This result sees Palermo keep their standing in the last UEFA Cup spot in sixth, and Reggina move up to twelfth place.

Brescia won three important points in the relegation battle with their 2-1 away win over Bologna. Simone Del Nero scored the opener three minutes after halftime, and Marius Stankevicius doubled the lead in the 76th. Claudio Bellucci pulled one back in the 89th, but it was too little, too late. Bologna now drop to thirteenth in the Serie A table, and Brescia stay in nineteenth, next to last.

In a direct encounter for survival in the Serie A, Siena lost at home to Chievo, 1-0. Franco Semioli provided the lone tally of the match in the 80th minute. Siena remain in sixteenth place, while Chievo move up to seventeenth, just above the drop zone.

Another bottom of the table clash took place in Florence, as Fiorentina and Atalanta played to a scoreless draw. Despite the point, Fiorentina drop to eighteenth in the table, and Atalanta stay in twentieth place, which is last.
