HALF 2002....thoughts about the West Coast ?
« on: July 17, 2002, 03:42:19 AM »
What's your thoughts about the past 6 months for the West Coast scene ?
The only "big" releases are quik's Under the influence and E-40's Grit & Grind.
The other major releases has been pushed back (snoop, xzibit,
golden state....),i hope something more for the 2nf half of the year.

SPICE 1 - SPICEBERG SLIM

spice 1 was my fav album of the year till now.. we've had dope compilations like Bay 2 LA Vol.2
but true, the biggest major releases were pushed back.
but spice & daz were off the hook, peace

Daz album is nice but not off the hook in my opinion,Spice 1 too but its not the BIGGEST release in terms of quality.
Under the influence is tighter.

there's been NOTHING GOOD released...quik and daz where average at best...its really disappointing...no one new is stepping up...crooked i, knoc, ras kass, roscoe where supposed to drop but got pushed back..or would have been a good first 6 months...these are the ablums i'm looking forward too the most...yeah snoop and xzibit are dropping also, but its not like we've never heard them a million times already

First half was OK, but the other half will smash the East.
These CD's will change the game:
XZIBIT
RAKIM

maybe Snoop, but it will be dope at least.

yup...Foesum came with a tight gfunk thing, the Troutman tribut was dope too, fine productions. SCC on the hard hitting site togetha with Daz´s new one...Truth Hurts on the r&b site...not to forget about several underground releases like jay tee & baby beesh...overall nice first half of 2002. the big releases (like dj quik) are not automaticly the best releases.

we hvent had much commercial success yet this year....but we've had some good releases....Frost - Still Up In This Shit, Spice-1 - Spiceberg Slim, MC Ehit - Underground Hero, Daz - This Life I Lead....those are strong releases....Quiks album is good too....40 Watter got his shit poppin about now....we had a new release from X-Loc himself....Luni Coleone hit us with a compilation....JT laced us with Neighborhood Supa Starz compilation, The Unsigned Hype compilation and The Game and Nas album....so its not like we aint doing shit....we just dont push platinum cuz its too raw for the commercial heads

The Blackalicious and PUTS albums are the best albums I've heard from the West so far this year.
"Without The Elements It's All Irrelevent" Jurassic 5

"This world better acknowledge me I'm over ambitious
Do almost anything to rob a genie for his wishes." 57th Dynasty

"We didn't give a toss about money, fame or stardom
Just about the culture, the music, slang and jargon." Blak Twang

"Freedom Is A Road Seldom Travelled By The Multitude" Public Enemy

"If Ignorance Is Bliss Then Knock The Smile Of My Face" Zach De La Rocha
