help with avi file

so I downloaded star wars and it ended up being an avi file.  I play it in windows media player or power dvd, and there is no sound.  do I need to get a codec or what?

download VLC player, plays every single file possible. havent encountered a video that it wouldnt play.

got it to work with codecs.  the force is with me.
