To the computer hardware heads
« on: May 25, 2005, 10:29:33 PM »
Aight, this summer i'm planning to save up money and maybe get a computer. How much would it be to get a custom part computer from Dell or somethin like that with these characteristics, without the monitor, keyboard, or any of that bullshit?

thanks

Pentium 4 3.2 ghz/ Athlon 64 3500+
1gb DDR Ram (good Ram, somethin like PC4000)
2 200 GB Hard Drives
Decent DVD Burner
Sound Blaster Audigy or any good sound card
Decent 256mb Vid. Card
Fast Network Card

Is there anything I missed?

So do y'all think i can get somethin like this for around 1k?

Athlon 64 3500+ will cost around $250-300
1gb DDR Ram (Good Ram, Somethin like PC4000) will be like $150 or so
2 200 GB Hard Drives <---- i can get 250 gb hd's for about $100-140 it varys
Decent DVD Burner <---- i got a Lite On DVDR burns + and - 16x Dual Layer and burns CD-R's as well at 52x for about $80 but prices went down to $60-70 now
Sound Blaster Audigy or any good sound card <----- depends on what you plan on hearing (gaming, music etc)
Decent 256mb Vid. Card <---- depends if u like gaming and which games u plan on playing
Fast Network Card <--- doesn't really matter as long as you get a 10/100mbps card
