ima have to agree wit ya'll, and basically actually from 88-94, was the golden shit.....so far i dont really see the torch bein passed from rakim,nas,2pac,biggie to anybody else......you got ra comin out whos album is gonna be more anticipated more than anything hes been involved, pac is still releasin shit, and nas is at the top of tha game......when any of those cats spit they usually r comin real......for this generation, they switch thier flow or even what they rappin bout, just so the mainstream can like it......i wanna see them rap what they want to and what they know, and experiment if the mainstream is ready for that......thats why em has remained so successful, and thats why ra wit dre is bein this anticipated....basically cause he never sold out wit his lyrics, he just never really had this producin and market with the exception wit eric b

yeah one in a life time moment, cause nowadays every new rapper ( some exceptions, fo sho... MS JADE ) gettin there doe by doing commercial shit, and the bandwagon goes on and on, only the true head can't save hip hop, nowadays u got to have minimum 3 bangers in your album to sell well

Rap will NEVER see an era exactly alike the 92-96 era...BUUUUUT, we might have two albums coming out extremely soon which will surpass every album made during the 92-96 era...Rakim - 'Oh My God' and Dr Dre - 'Detox'

I don't think it'll ever be as good. Shit out of my fave albums, almost all of them came from this era. Chronic, Doggystyle, 36 Chaimbers, Illmatic, Dogg Food, and the list goes on, and on. I started listening in 92 when the Chron dropped. I been a west coast fan ever since. Until we get another Pac and Big calibre rapper reppin each coast, it'll be hard for anything to match that era.

LOL, some of these cats were 5 years old, or younger when the Chronic dropped. I'm 24, and I barely caught onto it.

there wont be nothing like that really,
like sikotic said, rap has commercialized more and more, and in the later years, it wil expand more commercially,
92-96 had the original death row
classic albums all over here and there
east coast with nas and wu tang
outkast coming with their classic albums
like doggy said, it is a shame how it has changed, the only way that it is good is that rap is spreading and becoming more popular, but then u get a lil tired of it, 92-96 was an era of classic albums, and classic rap music
myself, i was yougn at that time, i'm only 16 now, i can just say because of that music era, altho as i was kid, during that time, that rap was getting to me, either way, who knows whats gonna be next, its not gonna be a 92-96, with dre and rakim, some dopeness should come out, but rap will still be surrounded by new rappers commercializing

There were a lotta classic albums in that time period.  I doubt if there will ever be as many QUALITY projects coming out like that era again.

nope as somebody said, rap is far to commercial these days so we will never see a period where a great deal of Classic albums are brough out cos they will always be followed by the ja rules and so forth.

92'-96' was my fav era for hip hop, with 94' being the greatest year hip hop will ever see [Illmatic, Ready To Die, Southernplayalistic, Doggystyle, Creepin on Ah Come Up, The Diary, the list goes on and on]. Words cant describe how great that 4 year period was. The artists who released all the great albums of that era are STILL trying to figure out how they did it. Seriously, it was a MINDBLOWING era not just for hip hop, but music in general. The albums that came out during that time period are just...........from another FUCKING PLANET.
