Like seer's said, if they dropped their debuts at the same time I think Snoop would of overshadowed Nas, simply because Snoop had soooooooooooooo much charisma, soooooooooo much talent, his flow was the best in the game, he stood out above all, and teamed up with Dre it was like a match made in heaven. Ofcourse "Illmatic" would still be regarded as the classic it is today, but Snoop would of taken most of the spotlight imo. But today, Nas takes it easily, he's just more creative and he's got more shit to say, I love Snoop, he's still one of my all time fav's, but there's only so much pimp shit I can take these days, Nas brings more lyrical depth which is what I look for mostly.

BUT LOOK AT IT LIKE THIS, BEFORE STILLMATIC WHAT CLASSIC SHIT DID NAS HAVE.  IT WAS WRITTEN WAS VERRY SOLID ALBUM,  I AM... HAD TWO SONGS AND NASTRADAMAS WAS TERRIBLE.
IF YOU LOOK AT SNOOP, DOGGYSTYLE WAS CLASSIC, DOGGFATHER WAS A VERY SOLID ALBUM, THE GAME WAS TERRIBLE, THEN TOP DOGG HAD ABOUT 7 CUTS THAT WERE GOOD, THEN THE LAST MEAL WAS ANOTHER STRONG ALBUM.
SO IF YOU LOOK AT  ALBUMS STRENTHS SNOOP WOULD GET NAS.  NAS HAD THREE GOOD ALBUMS, SNOOP HAD FOUR.  AND IF YOU LOOK AT CLASSIC SONGS SNOOP HAS NAS BY A MILLION.

anyone who thinks Nas would've been forgotten has forgotten that New York decides who blows up, and who disappears more than anything else, this was even more true back in 93/94.

in 93-96 it would've been interesting, because both were dope, but nowadays? its no contest... snoop sounds more smoked out on every release, and Nas has continued to make dope songs.  Snoop was my favorite solo cat for probably 4 years, but even in his prime he wasn't a better MC than Nas, and he still isn't.  They're on different vibes, Nas seems to be staying in the knowledge/uplift/lyrical mode, while Snoop seems to move more and more towards mixing hip-hop with a whole lot of 70's funk flavour, which is okay sometimes, but i get real tired of it after a while...
