I finally blew my speakers
« on: July 19, 2005, 09:19:31 PM »
on my computer.  I've had them for about 7 years now, they are labtech.  I got them for $80 back in the day, and they fuckin bumped for the size and price.  they sounded so damn good.  I never even bothered buying a stereo, I would play all my music off my computer.  but now they are blown, and got that distorted crackle.  so I guess I need a new set of speakers for my computer.  anyone got any good reccomendations?  I'm not looking to spend more than $100.

go to best buy and try listening to the comp speaker selection they have? or circuit city or comp usa. only way to get a good pair of speakers really is to hear them yourself.

from the ones I've heard, creative speakers sound like shit when they're loud.  I had Altech Lansing, and they were really good.

I use studio monitors now.  Can't beat the sound they put out.

I know you said you're not looking to spend more than $100, but take a look at these.

I went looking for speakers not long ago, and found that pretty much anything below 100 are shit (or at least the store I was at). They had a bunch on display. These were the first I checked out, everything else I checked after that was a huge downgrade. I got them for 200, but I sure wish I seen them here earlier for about $150.

The bass is great. I have the bass on notch 4/5 and it thumps. They are also very loud. I haven't taken mine to the max volume in fear of breaking my neighbor's windows. Trust me on this Grundy, if you get these, you will not be disappointed.

Here are some pictures of the control, along with the remote control. You can plug in headphones/earphones to the control. It also has an auxillary plug, so you can plug in an mp3 player/portable CD player and play music without your computer being on, just the speakers. I rarely use the remote control, just when I am across the room to lower/raise the volume. The remote controls volume, bass, treble, and also turns them off.

You can also plug this set into a stereo or home theater system. It comes with an adapter that plugs into the RCA jacks.

I believe these are some of the best 2.1's out there. Well, hope that helps. Let me know if you need more info.

Damn, those look dope.
Too bad they can't control Winamp, like next/previous track..

I use my mobile as a remote for Winamp through Bluetooth, but I'd like to see it integrated in the speaker remote, would be much easier.
