Christopher Reeve, known for his role as Superman in four movies, broke his neck in a fall from a horse in 1995. He became a leading advocate for paralysis research until his death last year at 52. The foundation he established has awarded more than $55 million in grants for neuroscience research, spokeswoman Maggie Goldberg said.``Now, more than ever, I feel Chris with me as I face this challenge,'' Dana Reeve said in her statement. ``As always, I look to him as the ultimate example of defying the odds with strength, courage, and hope in the face of life's adversities.''Reeve, an actor and singer, has never smoked, Goldberg said. Reeve lives outside New York City in Westchester County.
