Yeah, that's until 2004.
But when was the last time a hurricane flooded/ruined a whole city like Katrina in New Orleans ??
And what about worldwide statistics..

This is also interesting:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pastcost.shtml
The 11 most expensive hurricanes all occured in the 90's/00's. 4 of top 6 happened in 2004.
Expect Katrina to top this list.

Increasing destructiveness of tropical cyclones over the past 30 years

Quote
This trend is due to both longer storm lifetimes and greater storm intensities. I find that the record of net hurricane power dissipation is highly correlated with tropical sea surface temperature, reflecting well-documented climate signals, including multi-decadal oscillations in the North Atlantic and North Pacific, and global warming. My results suggest that future warming may lead to an upward trend in tropical cyclone destructive potential, and—taking into account an increasing coastal population—a substantial increase in hurricane-related losses in the twenty-first century.

^cmon now. every european school kid knows those things are related.. I guess in America they don't teach it for a reason.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin
