MACOMB TOWNSHIP -- A neighborhood ice cream truck driver was charged Thursday with showing nude pictures of himself to his young customers and promising free treats to girls who agreed to kiss each other, authorities say.

"We are glad to get him off the street before something worse happened," Sheriff Mark Hackel said.

Michael Wesley Cain, 36, of Detroit was arraigned Thursday in Shelby Township District Court on two counts of accosting children for immoral purposes, a four-year felony, and two counts of exhibiting obscenity to children, a 90-day misdemeanor.

He is being held on $20,000 bond in the Macomb County Jail.

News of the arrest caused concern in the quiet residential subdivisions of Macomb Township where Cain drove his truck.

"It's scary," said parent Natalie McDougall, the mother of two young children.

She said she always accompanied her children when they purchased ice cream from Cain.

"I did see him down the street talking to teens," said McDougall, adding that Cain would drive through the neighborhood once or twice a day.

Macomb County Sheriff's deputies were called Sunday to the area of 21 Mile and Garfield after receiving complaints about an ice cream truck driver who allegedly was showing nude pictures of himself on his cell phone.

Cain also allegedly asked girls to kiss each other so he could photograph them, Hackel said. If they complied, he would offer them free ice cream, the sheriff said.

Sheriff's deputies were able to locate the ice cream truck in the area of 21 Mile and Tilch. Cain voluntarily turned over his cell phone, and deputies found naked photos of the driver, Hackel said.

Cain previously has been convicted of felony firearm charges and drug charges, Hackel said
