As best I understand it...

This top secret group set up to track terrorists during the Clinton years comes out and says it was disbanded 4 months before 9-11 by the Bush Administration, after having idenfified Mohammad Atta as a terrorist.  The White House and the Pentagon spend a few years telling us this group doesn't even exist.  But then we start hearing that the Pentagon, under Bush, trashed 2.5 terabytes worth of data Able Danger had collected including some on Al-Queda and Moahmmad Atta.  So finally someone decides to look into this, a republican no less, and these guys are called before Congress to testify and one day prior to testimony the Bush Administration steps in and says fuck no these guys aren't allowed to testify??  This time around fuckin republicans are even pissed about this shit.  See the links below to hear Republican Congressman Weldon go off about the cover up...

and Specter is a bit confused too

Senator Arlen Specter, the Pennsylvania Republican who is chairman of the committee, said he was surprised by the Pentagon's decision because "so much of this has already been in the public domain, and I think that the American people need to know what happened here."

So yeah, I cant say I fully understand this whole story, except that the basic premise is people tried to tell the White House about Mohammad Atta and the plot to attack the World Trade Center, and the White House is trying to deny such a warning ever occured and further more someone in the Bush Administration intentionally ordered the disbanding of a top secret unitthat was set up to monitor terrorism and additionally ordered the deletion of 2.5 terabyte of data complied by Able Danger... now rather than clear its name, the pentagon members of able danger from testifying... fuckin bullshit.

Of course we've all known Bush Co are a bunch of secretive assholes from some time now... see
