If a disaster like that happened in your hometown, you sure would hope people helped you out. People are wiped out. No money. No possessions. No food. They NEED your money. Even if it's 5 bucks. That 5 bucks can feed some kid who hasn't had something to eat for a few days.

Yes, it is the Gov't problem, but just put yourself in their shoes. You'd be singing a different tune.
