I live in Lebanon
lol at everyone thinkin he's america...
yeah i've seen that movie , it's set in the 80s when there were like 4 main militias :-the progressive socialist party (druze , pro-syrian)-Amal (Shiaa , pro-syrian)-Lebanese Forces (christians ,pro-lebanon)-Hizzbullah (shiaa , pro-Iran at the time , still are but also have good relations with Syria)the "event" in that movie is based on an actual event when the CIA asked a guy named Elie Hobeika ,who is the head of the LFs intelligence branch who later betrayed the LF (for more info go here: http://www.lebaneseforces.com/blastfromthepast017.asp ) to kill a hizzbullah member and instead of a surgical assassination he used a HUGE bomb which left dozens killed. But in opposition with the movie the guy who was supposed to be killed was unharmed and there was no suicide van (who's ever heard of a christian suicide bomber?).As for the militia being "cowboys" yeah the men he commanded were valiant fighters but they were mentally sick(most were VERY poor and started fighting when they were like 12) and were responsible for a lot of the atrocities in the war, the regulars in the LF use to call them the "apachies" and if it wasn't for hobeika , Bachir Gemmayel (who was killed before hobeika betrayed us) who have had them thrown out of the militia .Amal were also a bunch of unprofessional fighters who always needed syria to help them out and they had suicide bombers so basically in the movie it's based on an even that the LF carried out but in the movie it's more likely to have been Amal (although who knows?).
"Damn man! u ever thought of leaving your country?? IS that possible??"i wasn't alive then , i was born in 88, during the "war of Liberation"(lebanese army+LF artillery VS Syria) and the "war of elimination" (Lebanese Forces VS Lebanese Army) ironically those were the 2 wars that most destroyed the Jounieh area (where i live) , and my dad didn't want to leave (he didn't want to leave his parents). As for me , I use to want to leave Lebanon when i was younger and wanted to become a wrestler lol but I love this place too much to leave.
