i have a problem with people that don't like kam.

kam spits real shit, meaningful shit.  without question my favorite song of all time (trust nobody) and some of the most meaningful songs i've ever heard are kam tracks.

it's one thing to disagree with whether battlecat or dj quik is the best producer in the game.  or whether ras kass or crooked i is the dopest lyricist in the game or something.  to each their own.  but to not like kam in many ways goes beyond simple musical preference; and becomes an issue of people not appreciating, or even opposing: meaningful, substantive ideas that i embrace, emulate, aspire to, and associate myself with.

real shit

kam is one of the illest mcs in the game

Exactly. Political street driven rap has been around for over 20 years, it's not going anywhere. We need more of it actually. Kam is one of the nicest emcees out there period point blank.

Kokane - He ruins every track he's on.
Quik - He flip flops, and after reading "Have Gun Will Travel" I have a low opinion of him/ his crew. Some of his music is great though.
Too Short - His early stuff was dope, but now nothing bores me more than a Too Short cameo/verse.
Saafir - Never liked his style.
B-Legit - Good for a verse here and there, but that's it.
Mack 10 - Never liked more than a song or two, and he has a bad attitude.
Tha Realest & Topp Dogg - imitation rappers. Suge ruined these guys.

E-40. I don't really dislike him, but because of that voice I've never been able to get into his music. It just pisses me off way too much to overlook.

Out of curiousty what did u read in 'Have Gun Will Travel' that made u have a low opinion of him. I am asking not because I am attacking, but because I never read the book and I am a big fan of dj quik.

I can't recall specifically, I'd have to go back and reread it but it seemed that he jumped from being gangsta to being an artist. Like he has an identity-crisis. I believe there's a part in the book when his crew beats a guy almost dead and then quik smashed the guy with a chair killing him, IIRC. The book really does a hatchet job on 2Pac though.

As insane as this sounds but it's my view, I dislike all these "gangsta" rappers who gotta bring it up every time that they once sold/or still sell drugs and engage in any other criminal shit, I'm not saying this simply because I myself am no gangsta but it's like hip-hop is a big ass minstrel show and some Brothas and Sistas ain't seeing the effects of this.

True enough Crooked I and Ice Cube are among my lyrical inspirations but only because they both have lyrical qualities (Crooked now, Cube's older shit)

Another rapper I don't like (not-westcoast though) after reading his auto-biography is DMX. Dude was a straight-up dick. Dude was basically like D-bone from the movie Friday. Just a big (drug-addled) thug, with no scruples, robbing his own friends, managers, whatever. One time (like in the movie Friday as well) the neighborhood beat his ass so bad he had to have his jaw wired shut and sh*t!
