"A Woman's Touch"
Every home is made better with a woman's touch.

This is why Dubcnn is very excited to introduce to you a fresh new idea that will shine light on some key players of the female gender who have shaken our world of hip-hop and urban music -- and made it a better place.

A Woman's Touch is a very special series that will spotlight some of the most influential and powerful women in our country -- ranging from prominent female artists to power players and fierce leaders -- women who have made a tremendous impact on our society and within our culture today.

Jonathan Hay and Chad Kiser present the Dubcnn limited edition series -- however, A Woman's Touch would not make quite an impact without a woman's perspective; so we have brought onboard to help lead this revolution Sabrina, who is already working with the Who's Who of the industry.

If you have any news tips, ideas, or special guests you'd like to see featured, please contact Jonathan Hay via MySpace or email.

We always appreciate your input. This landing page will be the fixed location of this feature, so bookmark this page as well as the news section.

interview ANGELIQUE NICHOLE  (January 2009) | Interview By: Jonathan Hay

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Angelique Nichole for our Woman’s Touch series here on Dubcnn.

Growing up in the same Cleveland neighborhood as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Angelique Nichole talks about being abandoned by her mother at the tender age of eight to fight and fend for herself, as she openly explains to us, “I had a very tumultuous life as a child. I had to endure shit that grown people have yet to endure, imagine [being] a child and experiencing things that a thirty year old has yet to experience…I did all that at eight,”

Dubcnn takes a few minutes to get to know this lady lyricist a little bit better as she holds it down for the ladies in this special series. A Woman's Touch...Every home is made better with a woman's touch.

interview SHIRÉ  (August 2008) | Interview By: Jonathan Hay

Singer Shiré is all too familiar with the feeling of her dreams slipping through the fateful hands of someone else’s fingers, after suffering a broken record deal when she was only a teenager. Shiré (pronounced “sha-ray”) was once a part of the first female group ever to be signed to Def Soul/Def Jam Records and made her debut on Dru-Hill’s second album on a duet with R&B singer, Sisqo. Both her group LovHer and Sisqo, the group’s founder, were later dropped from the label due to internal problems within. Shiré went on to feature on several platinum rap artist albums, such as DMX, Cam’ron and Method Man as well as a landing a single on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack.

Rediscovered by Steve Rifkin and now signed to SRC/Universal Motown, Shiré is preparing her debut album Pickin’ up Da Pieces, slated to be released early 2009, and is busy promoting her controversial single “Used To LovHer” as well as her just-released debut single "Movin' On," produced by Midi Mafia and J. "Supa" Stokes for Hot City Music Group.

Shiré speaks with Dubcnn as part of “A Woman’s Touch,” a special Dubcnn series created to shine light on some key players of the female gender who have shaken our world of hip-hop and urban music -- and made it a better place. Oh yea – you’ve got to check her shoutout - - she sang a lil something for Dubcnn.

interview SHONTELLE  (August 2008) | Interview By: Jonathan Hay

Sugar, spice and everything nice describe this tropical mama, who grew up, per se, with megastar Rihanna in the beautiful island of Barbados. Shontelle, in eager anticipation of her next album Shontelligence (slated to be released fall of 2008), throws everything into the mix -- from Reggae-soul to pop dance and hip-hop -- as well as highlighting on some major features, such as fellow islander Rihanna in the album’s smash hit “Roll.” Signed to hip hop mogul and pioneer Steve Rifkin’s SRC Records, Shontelle exemplifies a woman’s strength, being only twenty-three years old and having already left a splash in the Caribbean by writing hit songs for several top artists.
