R.I.P. Andre Young Jr., Dr. Dre's Son - August 26, 2008 By : Eddie Gurrola

The entire Dubcnn staff would like to send our deepest condolences to Dr. Dre and his family in regard to the untimely passing of his 20-year-old son, Andre Young Jr., this past weekend. While details are still pending, Young Jr. was reportedly found dead in his Woodland Hills, CA home this past Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Andre Young Jr. was said to be out with friends Friday night and his mother later found him "unresponsive in bed" when she tried to wake him early Saturday morning. She immediately called paramedics, who later pronounced Young dead at the scene.
"Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family's grief and privacy at this time," said a statement released by his spokeswoman.
An autopsy was conducted and the cause of death is still pending toxicology and other tests, which may take six weeks or more.
We're praying for Dre and his family during this tragic time, and we encourage the entire West Coast to do the same.Discuss This Topic

Reintroducing: Mimi - August 26, 2008 By : Lil Jay

Being the only artist to appear on Dr. Dre and DJ Quik's one and only (vocal) collaboration is not a bad look at all. Let alone for a female singer. Seven years after the memorable song "Put It On Me" off the Training Day Soundtrack, Babydoll Refresh better known as Mimi is back to make her name heard again and, for the first time, her face seen. These steps are being made right now as she's currently working on her debut album as well as other projects such as B-Real's upcoming solo album.
You can expect Mimi to showcase both her rapping and singing talent with the release of her debut project coming out later this year. Once again she secured a nice amount of high profile guest appearances, one of them being Snoop Dogg on the track called "Never Find". Mimi wanted to bring her fans the aforementioned joint as a teaser with Dubcnn serving as your host. Hit the link below to see why Mimi's still that girl to "get drunk, have some fun and blow some smoke".

Jayceon Terrell Taylor is at the top of his game with his latest album release, LAX. The Game is Compton’s Most Wanted emcee, but he sometimes comes under heavy criticism from people who think he ‘needs to Chill’ from dropping names every Eiht bars. However, as Cold 187um recently explained to me, “I respect that Game is always paying homage to the forefathers of rap – and more rappers should do it. The Game respects where he came from…”
Let’s land at LAX and observe the game. LAX opens up with a powerful Intro, a moving prayer by Earl Simmons aka DMX, which is sure to...(click link below).

A Woman's Touch: The SHIRÉ Interview - August 24, 2008 By : Jonathan Hay

Singer Shiré is all too familiar with the feeling of her dreams slipping through the fateful hands of someone else’s fingers, after suffering a broken record deal when she was only a teenager. Shiré (pronounced “sha-ray”) was once a part of the first female group ever to be signed to Def Soul/Def Jam Records and made her debut on Dru-Hill’s second album on a duet with R&B singer, Sisqo. Both her group LovHer and Sisqo, the group’s founder, were later dropped from the label due to internal problems within. Shiré went on to feature on several platinum rap artist albums, such as DMX, Cam’ron and Method Man as well as a landing a single on the Rush Hour 2 soundtrack.
Rediscovered by Steve Rifkin and now signed to SRC/Universal Motown, Shiré is preparing her debut album Pickin’ up Da Pieces, slated to be released early 2009, and is busy promoting her controversial single “Used To LovHer” as well as her just-released debut single "Movin' On," produced by Midi Mafia and J. "Supa" Stokes for Hot City Music Group.
Shiré speaks with Dubcnn as part of A Woman’s Touch, a special Dubcnn series created to shine light on some key players of the female gender who have shaken our world of hip-hop and urban music -- and made it a better place. Oh yea – you’ve got to check her shoutout -- she sang a lil something for Dubcnn.
