As the last Wu element RZA added to his production camp Bronze Nazareth is doing big things. In the past the MC slash producer has worked with various Clan members and many underground artists, but now the Detroit resident, who was raised in gun rule, has just released his solo album The Great Migration. Dubcnn.com caught up with Bronze Nazareth to talk about The Great Migration, Ringz & Partnerz and a lot of Wu-Tang related subjects.

“When I was young I was always exposed to music, so naturally I became serious with it around ‘94 and began looking for a way to create my own sounds,” says Bronze Nazareth when asked how he started out making music. He would describe his style by “feelings and emotions. I always bring a sound that can be felt, whether it’s grimy, painful, happy, you will feel it.”

Bronze Nazareth is not an original Wu-Tang member. He actually got in touch with the Wu through the internet: “Ringz & Partnerz is Cilvaringz’ management/production company. Cilvaringz is responsible for getting me to RZA and that’s my homie. I e-mailed Cilvaringz, first Wu tang Killa Bee from Europe, he felt my music and he directed me to RZA, who added me to his team.”

“I’ve worked with various members of the Clan [like] RZA, GZA, Masta Killa, Killarmy, 4th Disciple, Hell Razah, Cilvaringz and many underground hip hop artists, such as Ras Kass, Afu Ra, Kool G Rap, Kool Sphere, Planet Asia, Littles, Sean Price and many more.”

The album The Great Migration was released on May 23rd and Bronze Nazareth did all the production himself, what makes it a very coherent album.

“I’ve been working on it all my life really. You got your whole life to make the first album, so all my experiences went into it. As far as recording [it took] probably 5 years. I got Wu Fam on there like Prodigal Sunn, 12 O Clock, Timbo King, and also my people Kevlaar 7, Phillies, Salute... Not too many appearances though.”

“This album album has deep, well thought out lyrics. Skill and real life. It’s what any given person goes thru in their journey, this is just my story. So pick it up! And you’ll feel the common bond and will be able to relate to my struggles and triumphs. I like to lay my thoughts on paper in an artistic manner.”

Besides promoting the album, the official Wu Killa Bee is working on several projects…

“Masta Killa is the next one, I think. Masta Killa made some heat. I should have some joints on GZA maybe, but we’ll see. GZA, 5% album with Lord Jamar, Verbal Threat ft Kool G Rap, Pumpkin Head got a couple joints, C Rayz Walz, a lotta underground cats. I don’t really like to say until I know for sure. Lookout for my group the Wisemen though. That’s coming soon.”

Kevlaar 7, Bronze Nazareth’s brother, is also coming out with a new album soon. “His album is coming out thru me. He has some real life, as tract thoughts that make you pause. A lot of his album has been laid down, but there’s still a lot of work to put forth on it. He’ll be coming after our group The Wisemen drops.”

Internet rumours say that Immortal Technique bought a beat from Bronze Nazareth, but the track hasn’t seen the light of day yet.

“I’m not sure where we are with that. Some cat sent me his e-mail saying I should holla at him. I love Industrial Revolution, so I reached out, then built with him briefly at a show he invited me to, gave him some sounds, he called me and wanted a couple. We’ll see what happens.”

Bronze also did some work with Afu-Ra. That collaboration came to work through Masta Killa. “Masta Killa had some of my joints, him and Afu was working and I guess Afu heard something he wante and he called me up. We had a business relationship, he [Afu-Ra] is a cool brotha, we still gotta finish some business.”

For a long time there’s been a test version available of 4 Strokes of The Bronze Fist, a track by Afu-Ra & Masta Killa, produced by Bronze Nazareth. “I sold that beat to Afu, so it stays with him,” said Bronze after we asked if the full version will ever see the day of light.

“I usually have beat CD’s with me, try to play them to the artists and see what they feel. I never really make beats for certain clients. If I make a beat that sounds like a certain artist I’ll remember it in case I need to pull it out the stash for them.”

Three to four years back there was talk about a collaboration album with Moongod Allah, titled 2 Champs of Shaolin. “Moon has some things he had to deal with and wasn’t able to finish his half of the album. I still have my half though.” This would be an instrumental album; a trilogy with the released Return of The Ten Tigers (Moongod Allah) and All Star Collection Box (Cilvaringz). Only a limited amount of copies of these were released on the internet and they were all cd-r’s.

Bronze Nazareth is a fan of Slug (from Atmosphere) and would like to work with him sometime. “I like some of his life music, lyrics get deep like on Abusing The Rib. I haven’t reached out to him nah, I don’t really have his contact info though. It’s harder to reach underground shit if it’s isn’t in your face like all the bullshit on TV. If Slug was on MTV I’m sure more cats would listen. It’s about accessibility...”

“The album is out now. Pick up a copy for the house, for the car and one to leave in the shrinkwrap. I guarantee you’ll feel this album. Peace!”
