dubcnn.com: We're right here with Snoop Dogg. Tell us where
you're at, what's going on right now?
I'm in Germany, promotin' my lil record right now, Rhythm & Gangsta.
I got The Game out here openin' up for me, that's my young homie,
representing the CPT and the West Coast. We just out here fuckin' it
up, doin' what we doin', letting muthafuckas know that the West
Coast is fully loaded and fully wit it!
dubcnn.com: You just dropped your second single "Let's Get
Blown", do you have a third one yet?
Yeah we probably gonna drop "Signs", the one with Justin Timberlake,
and go for the Pop crowd, you know. Cause I'm already so gangsta, I
ain't gotta keep it gangsta no more, I done did that my whole life.
I'ma go pop one time, try to cross over, you know what I'm sayin',
get me a grammy or somethin, you know what I'm talkin' bout?
dubcnn.com: The 213 record dropped last year, but it wasn't
really promoted...
Yeah, but to me, some records is meant not to sell, but they made to
touch your heart. And that's what that record did, it was one of
those heart reaching records. And it's like, for example, I can
listen to a Eastsidaz record, and say "Wow this record didn't sell
3-4 million, but 3-4 million muthafuckas got it, and they know and
understand it" so, it's not about the sales because sometimes, a
record label don't know how to handle the product. And my thing is,
Warren G, Nate Dogg & Snoop Dogg had a great time making a record,
and muthafuckas love and appreciate it, and it is what it is!
dubcnn.com: I wanna know why ya'll didn't get down with Dr.
Dre on there...
He didn't get down with us!
dubcnn.com: Are we gone see that happen though? Dr. Dre and
Snoop Dogg? Detox?
I'd like to! I mean, you never know. Dre is my nigga, he the reason
for all that shit that we do as far as West Coast rap, so...
dubcnn.com: That's the most requested collabo right now...
Dre & Snoop, back together.
Well, me personally, I wanted to do a whole record, me and him
called "Break Up 2 Make Up". That's what I'm pushing. I don't want
no... I ain't got nothin' against what he trying to do, but I'm
not... My interest level is more into me and him locking up on some
me and him shit, giving the people what they REALLY want. But you
know, just like I make my records and sometimes he feel like "This
ain't the right record dogg, you should let me..." and that's the
same way I feel about him. But I still support him and he still
support me, so at the end of the day, we gonna keep the West Coast
moving, and when we decide to do the Snoop & Dre record, whatever
whatever, I'm ready for it!
dubcnn.com: Okay, and you mentioned Tha Eastsidaz, what do
you think of this? *Pointing at Yashs FREE TRAY DEEE T-Shirt*
Oh that's your opinion, that's the way you feel man... Represent
what you feel!
dubcnn.com: Well what's your opinion on it?
I ain't got no opinion.
dubcnn.com: Do you think we'll ever hear Snoop Dogg & Tha
Eastsidaz together again?
I don't know, you gotta talk to Tha Eastsidaz. They didn't wanna be
in business with me no more, they thought I wronged them. So, you
know, me personally, I ain't did nothin' but help niggaz from day
one, you know? Open up doors, give niggaz my spotlight to help them
create their own spotlight. And at the end of the day it created bad
blood because alotta shit was mishandled and alotta information was
misread and what not. But at the end of the day, they know I love
them niggaz and I was down wit them niggaz, like they was my brothas,
like they was my homies, and treated them with respect, and never
tried to do nothin' wrong, just lead them the best that I knew and
at the time, it was like, Snoop Dogg was already the King Of The
West Coast. Already millions in the game, nobody knew them. I kicked
down doors to get them in the game. So whatever they did with
theirs, and how they did theirs, best wishes to them. If it's meant
for us to get back together and work, you know God will make it
happen, if not, I don't hate them niggaz, I love what they doin' and
how they do it!
dubcnn.com: You spoke on the West Coast Movement... Who do
you feel on the West Coast as far as new artists right now?
I ain't really got my ear to the streets, so I don't know. I'm in
the studio, listenin' to my music, listenin' to what I'm makin'. I
know Soopafly got some gangsta shit he finna come out wit! Real
pimpin'. I know the Lady Of Rage is workin' on some shit with Boss
Lady Entertainment, with my wife.
dubcnn.com: You serious?
Oh yeah!
dubcnn.com: You got some shit with her?
I got about 4 or 5 songs I did with her, she workin' at my studio!
dubcnn.com: Is Bad Azz & Snoop Dogg possible again in future?
Bad Azz, that's my lil homeboy! Let me tell ya'll like this. I don't
have a problem with nobody. Every nigga that I hooked up with, that
I did something for, I gave a nigga an opportunity, I love all them
niggaz the same way I did from the beginning. Now if they got bad
blood towards me, that's the way the feel about me. But I'm open to
fuck wit everybody. Including Kurupt, after he get his muthafuckin'
attitude together and his get his life right.
dubcnn.com: Alright, that's good to hear. You've worked with
alot of different producers on your new record, but will we hear you
over Battlecat, Meech Wells, Fredwreck...
Yep! Me & Meech finna get somethin' crackin' when I get back home.
Battlecat my nigga, I love him to death. Fredwreck, you know what's
happenin' with me and Freddy. So, it's like this. I try to do so
much to keep so many niggaz involved. If you listen to my record I
never just say "Ima do a Snoop Dogg record with this one producer
and I ain't fuckin' wit nobody else, lettin' nobody rap on my
album." I don't ever be selfish like that. No, I got a record with
17 producers, 15 rappers, niggaz that ain't been heard in 20 years,
niggaz that ain't eatin', who woulda never got a shot, from Compton,
L.A., Ingelwood, Watts, New York, Brooklyn, Queens, Down South,
everywhere! I fuck wit everybody! That's why muthafuckas look up to
me as the Godfather of the game, because of the way I present it!
And it's like, it's crazy the way you look at it and say the West
Coast is back... Nigga we ain't never went nowhere! I always made
records that sold, always made records that did they thang. I ain't
never put a record out that ain't sold 2 million records. My worst
record did 2 million.
dubcnn.com: What do you think when people say Snoop Dogg
needs to go back to the Gangsta shit, from back in the day, Gfunk!
I tell them "When the pimps in the crib ma, drop it like its
hoooooooooot!" I tell them that. Cause that's a muthafuckin' gangsta
record right there, and I ain't had a record like that my whole
life! That record right there feels GOOD to me. Drop It Like It's
Hot. Respect the new! You know what I'm sayin? Muthafuckas should
appreciate the new, instead of always dwelling on the past, because
alotta shit from the past can't be duplicated! I know Marvin Gaye
and Curtis Mayfield when they did Superfly and Mercy Mercy Me, they
was like "Damn! We can't outdo these records!" but shit, they still
went on to make records that were just as hot!
dubcnn.com: And as a last question, is there any reason that
you only performed 2 songs off your new album at the shows and did
almost all of Doggystyle?
Yeah because over here, the people, you gotta get them what they
know. And I got that much shit in my catalogue, to where I can do
that. The average rapper can't come over here and do some 5 or 6
songs off his first album, 2 songs off his 3rd album, 1 song of his
5th album, 2 songs off his album that's out right now. I can do
that. Because, you gotta know and understand what you're dealing
with when you on stage. It's a difference from comin' over here,
rockin' the house, and comin' over here and tearin' the muthafucka
up! And I don't just rock the house, I tear the muthafucka up. When
I leave, they don't talk about "Well when Jay-Z was here" or "When
Busta was here" or "when Luda was here". Muthafuckin' Snoop Dogg
left this muthafucka with his footpring in your mouth! To show a
rapper how a rapper supposed to rap, how a mack supposed to mack!
What I say Ted? How a pimp supposed to pimp? Yeah! That's how it's
supposed to be! And muthafuckas know, on some real shit, ya'll seen
it with your own two eyes, that was a show for your muthafuckin'
ass.
dubcnn.com: Alright that's about it for the questions, do you
have any last words?
This is the King of the muthafuckin' West Coast, Bigg Snoop Dogg,
comin' at you from DubCNN. Yeah, where they give it to you raw and
exclusive, nuthin' but gangsta shit! Oh, Rhythm & Gangsta the album,
it's in stores right now. We gettin' close to 2 million records
sold. All you muthafuckas that ain't got it, go get it, everybody
that got it, I love you. In a real way, keep typin' up that shit, my
cousin Daz a fool, I be readin' the shit he be sayin' on there, he's
a goddamn fool and I'm down with him, so whatever he down with I'm
down it too.
