We asked Shade about the new track and the record it's from and he told us; "With this record, I wanted to capture the essence of "Nuthin But a G Thang" and mix it with elements of my last commercially-successful single 'What Would You Do.' This song no question is for the ladies but I still keep it true to my sound. I even tapped into my Shady Montage style on this one."

We also asked about reaching out to Latoiya Williams for the record; "Latoiya is killing everything she touches right now and is surely putting her bid in as the "R&B Queen of The West."

news Exclusive Interview With Bud'da! - By : Chad - May 24, 2011

Multi-platinum producer Bud’da has worked with a virtual who’s who of the music industry crafting sonic back drops for artists like Xzibit, Nas, Timbaland, Shanice, Lenny Kravitz, Tank, Dawn Robinson of En Vogue, King T, Dr. Dre, Aaliyah, and Ice Cube to name a few. It was with Ice Cube where this Pittsburgh, PA native became known throughout the industry and began a career of hit-making prominence. Producing five tracks on the Ice Cube-led Westside Connection album “Bow Down”, along with WC and Mack 10, including the earth-shaking title track “Bow Down”, Bud’da became a reputable producer while revitalizing the west coast sound amidst the East vs. West era.

Through that successful stint, and the mutual acquaintance of fellow Pittsburgh, PA producer Sam Sneed, the critically acclaimed Dr. Dre wanted to bring Bud’da even further into hip-hop history by featuring snippets of a Bud’da-produced track in the beginning and end of the 2pac & Dr. Dre video for “California Love”, off the late Tupac Shakur’s “All Eyez On Me”. Soon after Dr. Dre’s historic departure from Death Row Records, Bud’da was once again recruited to help the good Doctor form the foundation of his Aftermath empire, by co-producing the lead-single, “Been There, Done That”, off the “Dr. Dre Presents…The Aftermath” compilation project.

After numerous credits for Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Ice Cube, Knoc-turn’al, Onyx and others, Disney invited Bud’da to score “The Proud Family” animated television series, the WB Network enlisted him to compose their animated series “The Boom Crew”, he later worked with both Spike Lee and Bill Duke on the television miniseries “Miracle’s Boys, which led Spike Lee to call upon Bud’da to score his wife’s 2006 show “That’s What I’m Talking About”. Currently, Bud’da is working with Disney on their upcoming television program “As the Bell Rings”, as well as working with his artists on his record label Bout Time Entertainment.

Dubcnn sat down with Bud’da to discuss a range of topics, including working with Ice Cube and Westside Connection on the monumental “Bow Down” project, who his early inspirations were, how he landed on the Dr. Dre & Aftermath production team, the background on a few of the classics songs he’s produced, and much more!

news West Coast Legend Rappin' 4-Tay Returns With New Album - By : Nima - May 24, 2011

San Francisco, CA - Rappin' 4-Tay is back! Ironically, that was the title of the Fillmore, San Francisco rapper's very first album in 1991. Two decades and ten albums later, 4-Tay is releasing his newest solo offering, "Still Standing".

To this day, his two worldwide mid-90's hits "Playas Club" and "I'll Be Around" fill up dance floors across the globe, and after a long hiatus, Rappin' 4-Tay is looking to add a couple more classics to his catalogue. Fully focused, he's been recording and eyeing the game, waiting for the right moment to step back in.

"I took a minute to stack up tracks and see what's going on from the outside, observing how the music game has changed. I wanted to put some music out there for the soul, something for the OG's, but mainly for the West Coast though. Keeping it smooth", 4-Tay says, explaining the concept behind the album.

"There's no more shoot 'em up bang bang, yellow tapes and chalk lines, but I'm still keeping it gangsta as well. I speak about the trials and tribulations that's been put in front of me: life, fatherhood, being in the rap game as well and dealing with those wicked streets out there."

"Still Standing" boasts an array of collaborations - from usual suspects as well as a couple of surprises. On the lead single "Put It On Me", 4-Tay reached out to Baby Bash, Dru Down and Icon, but the most interesting combination is featured on the song "Encore", bringing together several music legends: Montell Jordan, Treach of Naughty By Nature and Mac Mall.

Other guest appearances include: Mistah FAB, Celly Cel, Matt Blaque, Skee Lo, San Quinn, Myra, E The Don, No Name, Kyle Owens, as well as the aforementioned Montell Jordan, Treach, Mac Mall, Dru Down, Baby Bash and Icon.

This is only a taste of what 4-Tay has in store, as Still Standing Vol. 2 will be following in a couple of months, as well as another surprise project, which will be announced soon. "Still Standing" is available in stores and on all digital retailers via EMPIRE Distribution.

If you haven't heard of Bay Area (Antioch, CA to be exact) rapper Big Tone, then you aren't up on one of the most popular Latin street artists. I was oblivious to his movement as well, until I dug in and saw the buzz Tone has created locally.

He's very prominent in the Latin scene and having built an organic grassroots momentum, he makes a killing at Lowrider shows and Latin events. Without ever having a physical deal before, he's sold thousands of digital albums, something even a lot of veterans fail to achieve.

From The Streetz Of California”, dropping May 17th, is his first album with physical (City Hall) and digital distribution (EMPIRE Distribution) and features include Shadow, Tito B, Chingaso, Laced, Johnny Boy and more.

We also talk about the upcoming project wit J. Cole, whether he would sign to Dr. Dre/Aftermath if given the chance, his motivation behind making music and which artists from California he's currently feeling.

Enjoy this candid and in-depth interview with one of Hip-Hop's most promising artists, read or watch below:

news Microphone Masters Radio Episode 14 - By : Jose - May 9, 2011

It's finally here, Episode 14 of Microphone Masters Radio. Episode 14 is a special episode. Sometimes world events trump the debate about which emcee is the dopest. Today is one of those times. Leading up to the taping of this episode news came down about the death of Osama Bin Laden. Blaze Rock and J-Luv thought it appropriate to live in this moment and share reflections on 9/11, one of the worst attacks on U.S. soil. Despite your feelings of the president his choice to move ahead with a risky mission must draw some kudos. Now that Bin Laden is dead what does that mean? Should we rejoice in his death or be happy that he was brought to justice. As the streets fill with jubilant crowds Microphone Masters Radio brings honest commentary and top notch Hip Hop along with it.

Don’t worry, despite the serious tone of this episode you will still be treated to tracks from Clyde Carson, Jay-Z, Kidz In The Hall, Eminem, Royce Da 5’9 and Mistah Fab to name a few.

news Big U Launches Uneek Music, All Star Video "Going Big" - By : Nima - May 7, 2011

Uneek Music has made a formidable mark in entertainment by handling the careers of some of Hip-Hop's most noted adversaries including The Game, Snoop Dogg, Kurupt and Suge Knight to name a few. Company founder Eugene "Big U" Henley is now ready to create future legends with the launch of Uneek Music Entertainment's new string of All Stars on the label's roster. Recently introducing the world to the veteran collective 1st Generation, Uneek music is bringing it full circle by giving the future generation of music makers a place to call home as they cement their positions in music's vast landscape.

A full scale entertainment company, Uneek Music plays an active role in developing artists for longevity in music. As a seasoned entertainment manager Henley, has handled careers since 1989 and has helped artists from Game to Nipsey Hussle create a presence with a universal appeal and he is certain lighting will strike time and time again with his new stable of Uneek individuals.

The first offering from the label by way of 1st Generation, a group made up of Kurupt, Jayo Felony, King T, Tha Chill, Gangsta, Sir Jinx, and DJ Battlecat, reflects the foundation of excellence that set the stage for Uneek's roster. As the baton passes to the new school Uneek music will feature music that covers the spectrum from Rock, to R&B and Hip-Hop.

Uneek All Stars "Going Big" is a sneak peak at the talent the young label plans to introduce. With features from the entire label roster, the song "Going Big" is a perfect example of how Uneek plans to do it.

Collectively stealth, and individually penetrating the line up includes newbies like, Sandman Negruse an Eritrean/American transplant who brings an international flow with a smooth disposition. Los Angeles Native ShortStop has an impressive roster of collabs including Kelly Rowland, Akon, Trey Songz, Kurupt and is a ambidextrous in his ability to transcend normalcy of flow.

Spiffy also a Los Angeles native is the youngest of the cauldron but the maturity of his cadence supersedes his years. The first lady of Uneek Music, Sydney Arcane, hails from Seattle Washington and the R&B songstress has toured the world with the likes of the Roots and Floetry, as well as the Black Eyed Peas and brings a delicate sultry soul to the roster.

The grunge on the roster comes courtesy of the Rock Rap stylings of Paccman who delivers gutter colloquialism's over intense rock rhythms. Also in the line up are stand-outs are Blu Sky, Buc Adam, Reeze and Kriticaliacclaimed. All have a story and voice and united in Uneek music they plan to change the scope of indie label expectations for the future of entertainment.

The first video "Going Big" is already gaining a buzz with daily views growing on popular blogs and websites. Check out the video below:

news Press Release: West Coast legends form 1st Generation - By : Nima - May 5, 2011

(May 3, 2011, Los Angeles, Ca) Los Angeles radio station KDAY hosted the West Coast old school reunion show, Krush Groove, this past Friday night at the Gibson Amphitheater marking the official introductory performance of the West coast powerhouse group 1st Generation. Comprised of West coast legends Kurupt, Jayo Felony, MC Eiht, Tha Chill, Gangsta, King T, Sir Jinx and DJ Battlecat, 1st Generation is an amalgamation of some of the most critically acclaimed emcee's and producers in West Coast history.

As the inaugural release from the new indie label, Uneek Music is setting the standard of excellence with 1st Generation as the lead project coming from the label.

The group is the brainchild of members Tha Chill (Compton's Most Wanted) and Gangsta, (Tha Comrads) who began reaching out to their circle of friends about reuniting the West and once the word had spread the "Magnificent 7," as Chill describes them, answered the call. "We wanted to do something massive for the coast." says Chill, "So we had to figure out which attitudes and talent could mix and make the group work, and once we got off the phone with the homies, we met at Kurupt's house and made the first song, and all the professional creative ideas meshed and we knew we were on the right track."

With dynamic producer/DJ Battlecat on board bringing the sound of the West and the art of djing from the infamous KDAY Mixmasters and Uncle Jams Army days, 1st Generation is reflective of the entire culture. The first single "Killing Me Softly" delivers bar after bar of ether as each artist shows how they gained a place in West coast's multi platinum catalogue of hits.

"When you feel like something is right then it feels natural." explains Jayo Felony of his involvement in the group. "The streets have been wanting this for a long time for us all to come together and regardless of where we're all from or what our backgrounds are, we're all on a positive note and we're trying to push the line and stop some this bullsh** that's going on in these streets. I'm a little older now and a lot more mature than I was when I came in the game but I know that all of us coming together as one, helps to makes us as individuals bigger by being a part of a group like this."

Currently represented by Uneek Music, the group is fielding deal offers but until they find a permanent home they plan to keep feeding the people what they want with that good classic music. "Everyone in this group is going to drop something so spectacular every time it drops that its ridiculous" says Kurupt, "Everyone on this team has perfected their craft and that's what makes us the first generation of this game.We all have made an imprint on this game and helped to make the west coast rap scene what it is today."

Uneek Music was founded by industry vet and community activist Eugene “Big U” Henley. The label houses an arsenal of new and upcoming talent from across the country and is currently looking for acts in all genres to join the fold. Notable releases coming soon from Uneek Music include R&B Singer Sydney Arcane, and rappers Spiffie, Paccman, Sandman Neguse, Short Stop and Blu Sky,Rezee The Boss of Watts, Buc Adam, and Krita-Cali Acclaimed.
