Complete history of the World Titlle

Who do you all think was the MOST popular wrestler ever, in terms of the ring? I think Hulk Hogan would take that title, Sting and Batista would be right behind

WWE doesn't give a shit about tradition. I think the only reason the belt was held so high was because it was Flair's belt and Hunter wanted to run with it. We all know how much Hunter loves Flair and how much stroke he has in the company. It doesn't hurt that the belt looks amazing.
As for shooters, I don't think Angle has the submission skills to compete with too many old timers like Gotch. We saw how well Angle did against Puder. Angle is a great takedown wrestler, and he could probably throw a hell of a punch but he isn't a boxer and he isn't a submission fighter. Severn could probably beat Angle; Shamrock, Stu Hart, and Danny Hodge would fucking destroy Angle.
As for the great workers holding the title, outside of Dusty and Von Erich you could probably take any NWA World Champion pre '89 and put them right up there with the best. I think HBK is better in ring career vs career than HHH and Angle, and Benoit is better than all three. But all 4 are great workers.

The NWA title that you cheered for ended when WCW left and took the title. Then the TRUE NWA tradition ended when they stripped Dan Severn. The WWE holds the true World Title, and they should reunited the titles.
As for Angle, he took down Brock Lesner, his a gold medal winner, and I doubt any former wrestler can out wrestle Angle, or beat him in a shoot fight. Put him in UFC, and people are tapping. His beaten real wrestling legends, and he can out work anyone today. His better than HBK, and this is coming from an HBK fan. His better than Benoit, though I consider them the two best, and I think they should have Angle wrestle Japanese wrestlers to truly define his reign. Angle will go down as the best of our generation, like Hart in the 90's. Flair in the 80's, Race in the 70's, Sammartino in the 60's and Thesz in the 50's. Hate it or Love it.

I'm not saying the current NWA Title is on the best champ in the country. I'm just saying that it is the NWA Title and their is no disputing that. Whether Angle is a better champ than Jarrett is not the issue. Of course Angle is better than Jarrett. But the belt around Angle's waist is the Flair belt. The belt around Jarrett's waist is tge Flair, Race, Funk, Thesz belt.
Angle knows no real submissions. He's an amateur wrestler. Not a submission fighter. A guy like Fedor would kill him. Hell even Daniel Puder had him beat and the ref had to save him from the key lock. Danny Hodge was screwed out of a Gold Medal and won dilver in the '56 Olympics. Angle won a contraversial Gold Medal in a home country Olympics. Danny Hodge was also the number 1 ranked amateur boxer in the country, and he is among the top submission fighters. No way could Angle beat him.
And Angle is great, but career for career Benoit is better. Angle doesn't have the psychology Benoit has.
