Real Madrid's Cassano begins dropping kgs

Real Madrid signing Antonio Cassano has so far shed a kilo-and-a-half since going on the club's strict new training and diet regime.

Cassano has been told to drop five kilograms in the next week after arriving in Madrid overweight. The Italian is five centimetres shorter than Real captain Raul, yet at the same age the Spaniard weighed an amazing 11 kilos less!

Real fitness coach Jose Luis San Martín, nutritionist Patricia Teixeira and physiologist Luis Serratosa have been working closely with Cassano since his presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu last week.

It's unlikely Cassano will be considered for Thursday night's Copa del Rey tie with Atletico Madrid because of his condition.

I wish him good luck in Spain: he's a real talentuous player with some attitude problems, but you can't question his class.

Where did you get that quote from? Madrid is playing against Athletic de Bilbao this thursday, not Atletico de Madrid. You should get a new source for your sport info man!
