AFTERMATH IN TALKS WITH MARCIA AMBROSIUS // JAN 26, 2006Rumors going around that Aftermath is going to sign Marcia Ambrosius of Floetry. According to Kirdis Postelle the General Manager of Aftermath Entertainment, Aftermath is currently in talks with Marcia and her management, but there has been no official signing. More information later.
I heard an industry guy talk about these type of signings saying that they are only for tax write off's. These artists are signed by people who know full well (dre) no album will ever come of it. Because they are working with these people and their contract stipulates they are to produce x amount of material over a given time the higher upps can claim there work with them as a tax write off and further more claim them as a loosing investment (because there is still no album to recoup expenses) with is a huge tax break. The catch? You’re only allowed to get the tax break on a loosing investment for 3 years before you're expected to can the investment. Funny how A LOT of artists get signed for 2-3 years with no album to show for it and then they are dropped or they leave themselves isn’t it?
Dre should:1) release albums from his current artists2) sign other people
Eminem and 50 Cent have no need to be on Aftermath anymore, couldn't really care about Game either.
