xzactly.. when doggystyle came out, everybody in west AND EAST started bumpin it, going around with "al borland" shirts and screamin "dogg pound", "lbc" and all that.. MTV showed the videos all the time and the disco's were playing it all the time... alotta similar albums started to be produced

so tha same thing is happenin wit nelly does that make him one of tha influential of all time,  NO,  fuck what tha masses think b/c its about tha real fans.  Ask any hip-hop head what albums brought back tha east an there say,  ready 2 die,  36 chambers,  an ILLMATIC.  Illmatic raised tha bar for lyrical excellence in rap.  Albums are compared to this 1 when it comes to lyrics,  it like when how all rap tribute songs are pretty much measured up to tha crossroads.  And to tha person that says Nas is a flavor of tha month,  lay off tha crack,  a flavor of tha month is some1 that drops one album every1 loves an than is forgotten about.  Nas is at a high point of his career,  that seems more logical.  Cuz once his high point ends,  he still has a large fan base an would still sell 1-2x platnium.  A flavor of tha month woudlnt even go gold.  I dont know how any1 can front on illmatic.  Since every1 fronts on illmatic,  imma front on doggystyle,  it is a carbon copy of tha chronic,  how is it influential when tha chronic did that sound 1st an blew up first.  Im not sayin illmatic is more influential than doggystyle b/c its not,  it not even on tha same page.  But you cant front on illmatic.  An who cares about who has been in more movies an has there own clothing line,  or sells more cuz bottom line it comes down to tha music an is my eyes,  since they both dropped there debuts albums,  i gotte give nas tha advantage when it comes to makin music.

see, i dont feel nelly at ALL really. But i dont see Nas's influence anymore then his. tha keyword....is INFLUENCE. not that nelly is a better MC....shit, nelly aint a better MC then almost anybody, hes trash. But influence is what im talkin bout. U dissin doggystyle now...makes NO sense. u wasnt dissin it before, n now jus cus people are disagreein wit u about Nas....u wanna diss it. that dont make no sense. And Doggystyle was FAR frum a carbon copy of The Chronic. a "True Hip Hop Fan" would have NEVA even made that comment. tha 2 albumz sounded NUTHING alike. We're arguin over whos more influencial. so unless ANYONE cane show that Nas is more influencial...(and it would be IMPOSSIBLE) then IMO, they aint got shit tah say on tha subject. We comin frum different parts of tha country Tom...im in kali, u in NY. Im sure Snoop isnt as big a deal in NY (in tha rap scene) as Nas right now. Jus tha same, out here Snoop is a bigger deal then Nas is right now. BUT...there was a time when Snoop was bigger then Nas...even in NY. And thas with a FAR bigger bias towards opposite-coast rappers then there is out here. Nas could NEVER say tha same for here. I understand sum people backin "their man", but damn...dont be blind. this shit is so fukin obvious...its gotten to tha point that its funny to watch people argue against snoop on this one.

i have said it like 10 times already,  doggystyle is far more influential than illmatic,  jus check this post b/c i have said it already.  But illmatic is very influential in rap history,  not as much as doggystyle,  im not arguing tha point that illmatic is more influential than doggystyle b/c it is not,  im arguing tha point that illmatic is an influential album though

i just got one question....why is it, if nas is "the greatest" from new york, then how come is that only recently it is being said?....if he was the greatest then from the begining he wouldve been billed that...he wasnt....in closing....snoop, from his inception, has been considered a great, a legend and what have you...nas hasnt...not taking away from his lyricism(which there is better than him but i dont feel like arguing about that) but hes not that great....snoop hands down more influencial

i guess being called tha next rakim an tha rakim of tha 90's means jack shit,  an like i said b4,  i am not comparing tha influence snoop had over nas b/c i have said that snoop has had a much larger influence,  but nas has had a big influence.
