I think that what we go thru rite now happens all the time. Its just that we grew up on CDs that now are classic for us, but ask younger or older people and they'll name other shit. Older cats will say that hip hop started dying in 1992-93 when gangsta shit killed evrything else, younger cats will say "Method man - who?" or some shit like that.

Time goes on and the music changes. Love it as it is, dont whine.

I think Im down w/hip hop 4ever.

i felt better about rap music when stillmatic dropped. but i only feel good for bout 25% of rap music. and i thought nelly performing w/ nsync at the grammys was ugly and disgraceful to rap music. ;D

I agree

The fact that Stillmatic got 5 mics shows how weak the competition in because that album is 3.5 tops and we all agree on that...damn Nas--Lettin us down, bro.

Great hip-hop is still out there, you just got to know where to look, or just start buying old albums, go ten years back if you have to.

But on the real, I'll always miss the golden era of hip-hop in my life, 1995-96.  Absolutely unbelievable the way things were then.  I used to be 13,14 throwing up the W.  And I was real into the whole pimp image that hip-hop was portraying, that was the way I acted, it was fun chasing girls back then, trying to mess around with as many as possible, get your stats up.  But damn the old days done came and went.  That shit was a big part of my childhood.

hip-hop is predictable as in (money, bitches, cars, whatever....) thats the only shit rappers talk about  which is getting sick and old now....every fucking video is like this...if i want to watch a ho shake her ass, i would buy a fucking porno...not only that, the songs sucks cuz there is no proper meanings...but at least there is still albums like stillmatic, realness that keeps hip-hop alive.....and sugefight yo stillmatic only 3.5 mics????  damn youre just hating cuz master p ain't 1/512 good as nas lyrically, concept, innovation, etc....

"mary had a big old butt.....ugjhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!" -master p ::)

maybe he let you down but he didnt let alot of real hip hop fans down. Stillmatic did deserve a 5 mic rating. Hip Pop fans like you that say Stillmatic is 3.5, is a disgrace to real hip hop fans

Hip Hop is going through a period of change at the moment but none the less in 2001 some hot albums dropped imo.

Chino XL - 'I Told You So'
Sticky Fingaz - 'Black Trash'
Tha Liks - 'X.O Experience'
Cypress Hill - 'Stoned Raiders'
Nas - 'Stillmatic'
Jay Z - 'Blueprint'
Dilated Peoples - 'Expansion Team'
Tha Eastsidaz - 'Duces N' Trays'

All of the above immediatly come to mind as solid albums, plus theres a ton more...

Over the last few years rap has become materialistic, just bragging about money and how much shit they got.  I don't like listening to that shit.  Eazy's dead, Pac's dead, Bone Thugs ain't tight like they were on E. 1999.  There are still some gems that have come out recently like Esham, Snoop - Last Meal (because of Kokane), and Jay Z The Blueprint.  But rap definately does not put out good shit like it used to.  Bring back the gangsta shit!!!

Tom, you're dead on.  Hiphop is stale, and boring, someone really, really needs to revolutionize the art, and change it around.  Outkast is about the only ones close right now, I personally think to breaking through into something new.  Dre, Snoop, Cube, all of them have really dropped the ball by redoing the same thing over and over again.  I also don't like how rap isn't growing mature, it's all immature crap.  I'm not a big Tupac fan, but right now, everything pales in comparison to his mature songs, like "Unconditional Love".  That song's a monster, I don't think anything will ever even approach it as far as being that REAL, and perfect.  That's probably the highest hiphop will ever get.

OH! I almost forgot the phenom known as Eminem.  He's the brightest star, in my opinion, with the most potential.  He's the only one I can think of that could be Pac.

We are familiar with him. We know all the info that has been released on his project Oh My God! Has he dropped yet? NO! We are talking about the Hip Hop that has been released these past few years. The majority is ass cheeks.
