Guys, you DO know another reason he didn't read is his subject matter.  MOST people don't respect that crap!  What family man, or 70 year old producer is gonna vote for dre rapping about blunts and bitches?  He 'produces' songs about violence, sexism, drugs, and alcohol.  Why award that? That's the way their thinking.  I say give the friekin' award to the roots or someone who brings something positive, I'm sick of hearing how bad I should be, and how cool I'd be if I was out laying 3 women at a time.  I'm tired of hearing dre talk about getting his dick sucked.  I'm tired of hearing dre talk about how good his weed is, or how big his balls are.  Looking back, he's had 4 or 5 bright spots in his career that were inspired, but the novelty is wearing off.  If he wants to really be considered and respected, he needs to grow the hell up.  I've got a dick.  I've got balls.  I've got women.  I don't care about his, frankly, it sounds fake to me, why brag about something if you really do have it?

Yup, It sells records, but what does that make Dre, and others with uncreative lyrics?  The HipHop Backstreet Boys, is exactly what it makes him.

Ha, i'm not sure if you agree, but don't you think I got a point?  It's starting to get old, he needs to move on with his lyrics.  And it's even WORSE with him, because pop acts don't have talent.  He HAS talent, and doesn't use it!  How wack is that?

if dre still wants work he HAS to rap about that, go back to 96' when been there done that was Dre's anthem, dre has grown up and anyone who saw his behind the music knows that he has to do that music to get his stuff out there to the mass public without being deemed a fall off, producer of he year is awarded to musical TALENT not the content of your lyrics, dre is a PRODUCER not a rapper, sure he should make progress his raps but as a producer he is right up there with Quincy Jones, please i've taken so many production classes to know what i'm talking about dre is anything but novelty or backstreet boyish, the grammy head even said that dre would win the award if he had a full length album out, trauma your the homie but please don't tell me you actually believe what dre is rapping? the category is PRODUCER of the year not LYRACIST of the year, dre's never been a good rapper we knw this but his beat making is simply the best, plain and simple

For me personally I would choose Dre over most producers in music as a whole. But anyways I was just watching India Arie's preformance at the grammy's & I can say that it blew me away, wasn't flashy or anything, just a great live spot & I never really listened to the lyrics of the "Video" song before but that shit is real! I might just pick up her album when I get time.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

As a producer, dre's off the hook.  But the grammy's judge the 'production' i.e. how the whole thing was presented, that includes guest stars, the entire package, everything the producer had his hand in.

They're mainly old and white.

You think they have any respect for a song with a mad beat that's talking about raping women? HA! there ain't no way.

O.K., dre's lying on wax.  That's wack.  Sorry, it is.  That's the exact same thing as the backstreet boys saying they love women when we all know they're fags.  Only thing is, Dre doesn't HAVE to lie, he has talent, he could make the dopest beat ever, then have a rapper spit some nice rugged intellect over a beat, but instead, he wants to talk about his 20 women and how big his dick is.

I mean, dre's tight.  Really, Really tight.   But Nobody can complain when he doesn't win a grammy, because really, he can't be taken seriously by these old white men.

And you're right, dre couldn't sell before.  What does that say of his talent?  I thought Been There, Done That was one of the dopest songs I'd ever heard.  I"m just getting sick of people acting like Dre's god, when really, he's wasting his career away making stupid, pointless songs.  He has the potential to be one of the greatest musicians that ever lived (he arguably already is)... He's got a god-given ear, he knows how to influence people, he knows how to make music people like to hear, but everytime you turn it on, he's talking about having 3 women at a time, when he's got a wife and kids sitting at home.  How wack is that?  Cash over family.

Here's a question, and somebody gimme a straight answer.  If dre's such a 'family man' how come he's never done a song about his kids, or his wife?  He did a song about his brother, 10 years after he died, and in my opinion, that's one of the greatest songs he ever did.  I just think he oughta get real, and come with a real subject matter on this next album, or he's gonna be just another guy history overlooks because he wasted his talent.

Just my opinion... I could be wrong :)

you got to remember trauma ...nicole was the one who told dre to go back to that style of rap when he was failing with his message rap

but when i think your over exagerating your point about the 10 woman and big dick thing, the latest singles have been like that but his work as a whole hasn't been all that , Kurupt and Snoop talk about those things more than dre does, and they have your whole hearted respect

check this though man look at 2001

1. the watcher-a retrospective track
2. fuck you- your "big dick and bitches" song lol
3. still d.r.e- an i'm back and better than ever track
4. big egos- a track about people with...big egos
5.xxxplosive-not a track about anything....dre isn't even rapping
6.what's the difference-dre's part mends his wounds with eazy and doc no mentions of girls and big dicks lol
7. light speed-get drunk and high track
8. forgot about dre-an "i helped pave the way for what y'all are listening to now and how areyou gonna forget me" track
9. the next episode- song about nothing really just a celebration really
10. lets get high-<-------
11. murder inc-dre' not even on it
12. some l.a niggaz-dre's not on this either but it's just a showcase of los angeles talent
13. houewife- your track trauma lol
14. ackrite-hittman's track
15. bang bang-forgot dre's part but i know it wasn't anything to do with big dicks and girls
16. the message-song bout his brother

2 or 3 songs out of 20 tracks  :-/

so your kinda overexasterbating your point, the rappers you love talk more about these things than dre does, but like i said i don't ever expect dre to be 2pac and touch me emotionally , he's a producer THEE BEST AT THAT, he can hardly be thought of as rapper, and dre has even said that he doesnt like to get too personal on record, his music, like George Clinton is all about fun, asking dre to be 2pac and dre at the same time is asking TOOO much IMO, that's like asking Michael Jordan to be Shaquille O'neal at the same time and Troy Aikman to be Emmit Smith at the same time

If those 80 year old white dudes who are SUPPOSE to be judging on productional merit, are judging on the lyrical content of a song for a PRODUCTION award....they arn't doing their job right ......i don't care if you make productions for porn or satan worship , my job as a judge is to grade you on your work ethic and the overall greatness of your beats....not if i like your message or not, i'm not bitching cuz dre didn't win,  i never expected him to win with only guest appreances...hell even the head of the grammy's even said what i said, i just find it stupid that a blue grass record that uses only three cords (at that mot) that coulda been produced better by howard benson won over at least 3 better producers....gay

Well, you have some good points.  And looking back at "2001", you're right, there were some well done songs on there.  I think I'm still mad about dre's recent stuff, with Quik, and with Knoc.

I still think that undoubtedly, that's why dre isn't respected by them guys, though, whether it's fair, or not.

I just hope his albums with Truth, Em, Rakim, and His last solo are all better subject matter-wise, because all 4 should be, in my opinion, a growth for him.

Oh, and i'm sick of snoop and kurupt doing it too, lol.  Especially Kurupt.  At least snoop's supa-fly.
