Just because they are on the mailing list, doesn't mean they are all straight dudes. I guess one of them decided to be a bastard with his copy? But you never know, he might have some sort of hold up in his life that prevents him from getting to his computer? What was his website url?

I would open a dispute through Paypal's Resolution Center ASAP. It is doubtful they will reimburse you, as their Protection Policy states it must be a tangible item you bought. But they will help you understand what has happened, and what action you can take.
