whats up with the french ?
Lincoln:
It's not about stripping rights, it's so that employers will want to take a chance on hiring youth. If I owned a business, you're damn right I wouldn't hire some punk-ass kid because most of them are lazy and once you've hired someone it's hard to get rid of them. However, if there's less risk involved a business is more likely to take a chance on hiring youth and those that are good employees will get a job.

--- Quote from: Lincoln on March 29, 2006, 05:19:47 AM ---From what I understand, it makes it easier to fire youth workers within a grace period right? That's a good idea! Employers don't want to hire youth because of the risks involved, this takes that risk down. If you're a good worker you shouldn't have to worry I wouldn't think.

Did you read it properly, or just skim through it ?
They want to strip young people for the same rights "normal" workers got, make it possible to give young people 2 year trial contracts, and if they're not 100% satisfied with them, they can basically fire them for almost any given reason.
Did you know that 20% of all workers between 18 and 25 years in France are unemployed ? (Twice the percentage as the rest of the population)
The new law will raise the percentage of unemployed youths.
--- End quote ---
it will INCREASE employment.. think about it !! if the business has no risk to hire youths, they will hire more, it's creating more opportunity for inexperienced kids that look for work...
fuck maybe you should read the bill, and then UNDERSTAND what it's about.
All it's doing is making it more fair for the kids that are willing to work, the slackers that are in the streets are ruining it for everyone !

Exactly, but I doubt it's even worth the effort to some of these people.
Two things socialists hate about capitalism:
1. You have to work.
2. You only get paid what you're worth.
Jome:
You two got it twisted, how would you like to get lesser rights because you're a couple years younger than the next motherfucka they hire ??
Some other fool gets "You're hired", while you must sign a contract that can get your ass fired for the smallest detail, you gotta live with a uncertain job for 2 years cuz it's only a trial, and you're very likely to get paid less because you're a few years younger.. ? Not because you're a worse worker, or more inefficient, it's just because you're young.
Now, in some professions that's understandable, and in some professions you must work a couple of years to be as good and efficient as a more seasoned colleague, but these professions already have routines in order to deal with apprentices and freshly educated people.
Besides, you could be 30 or 40 and freshly educated for a profession, with exactly the same knowledge as the newly educated 20 year old, but get more rights and better contract because he's older ??
That's not right, this will just make it harder for younger people to get work and become established, the bill creates a harder, more unstable and unpredictable job market.

n'impote quoi. ::)
fuck man, you are looking for things to complain about.
older people are more mature, thats a fact, they also work harder, they are experienced in life, unlike young people that like to party hard and be lazy... you should be happy about the bill, but hey, if you are a shitty worker, then yeah ofcourse it would piss you off.
some of you french people mis-interpret the whole "liberty" notion... you got way too much up your ass.
to me it looks like you are just looking for shit to complain about, without fully understanding what is happening and the works of an economy. that is why OLDER people made these decisions, because in general young people have limited and naive understanding.
