Dre where you at?

Youngsters nowadays start talking like dre isn't the dopest cause his beats all sound the same. Although they didn't experience Dre's sound evolution from nwa to chronic to 2001, they still might have a point.

Between chronic and 2001 you saw dre's beats evolve. Doggystyle album, Natural born killaz, Keep their heads ringin, California love/ can't c me, Aftermath Album, Firm Album, Housewife, Shady Album, Bitch please.

After 2001 there seems no real improvement. Most of Dre's recent beats (including some very dope ones: westside story) still sound like 2001.
 
The experimental production on out of control and higher wasn't really it to me. So I can sadly say the only really fresh track is the out of control remix (which still grows on me every listen)

I see what your saying, hopefully he has a secret sound lined up that we won't hear until Detox but I'm not holding my breath.

That track for Busta's album seems like it will sound interesting though but I've giving up hope of this album even coming out now.

i keep telling myself that he's saving it all for detox....but what if he isnt....what if he just ran out of ideas, inspiration???

There's an old-ish interview with Scratch magazine where Dre says he's ready to go into rock music - he just needs a lead vocalist.

Maybe Detox will be something completely unexpected

Dre slipped a little. You can't expect someone to put out banging shit forever, eventually they will slide a little. Just be happy Dre is still the hotest producer in the game. And don't even worry about Detox. If it isn't good Dre won't put it out. Period.

I thought the beat for "How We Do" of the documentary was sick.  you knew it was a Dre beat when you heard, yet it sounded different from the chronic dayz.  dre still has it, he is just saving some shit.

and think about it, without that "How we Do" beat, that song would have been shit.  that song was like "In da club" beat for fifty.  both those beats were so good, that anybody could have rapped over it and MTV would play your song on TRL over and over agian.

Dre is probably the only producer/artist where I can listen to all the tracks back-to-back on his album and not get bored from any one of them.

His job is not that easy. It takes a lot of creativity to come up with catchy beats and classic hits where you can still bump many years down the line. Not too many producers can even compare. Even if his shit still sounds the same. So what? It still sounds dope and you can bump that shit like crazy.

Plus, if he switches his style all of a sudden, so many people will start bitchin about how he's changed and not the same no more and all that shit.

IMO, I think "Higher" was a little innovative in the rythmic patterns and was dope as hell.

With that said.... can't wait for "Detox"
