Greenland is not as large as it appears on a map.  The world is spherical, but the map is flat... so to make all of the land fit on the map, the northernmost areas of the map and the southernmost areas of the map are way out of proportion.  It is a very large island, but nowhere near as big as it appears on the map above.  You'd have to run a search to see what the square mileage of the island is, but I would imagine it's more like the size of Iran.
