Why do critics hate tha 7 day theory
« on: February 08, 2002, 03:25:00 PM »
How come all reviews for this album rip apart but yet many fans consider this Pac's best albums,  even tha east coast dickriders over on sohh.com said that if any Pac album deserved five mic's if was tha 7 day theory,  why do critics all hate on this album ???

i don't know why, the best explanation i can come up with is that when i first heard it i didnt like it much either, but it grew on me ALOT, but critics only have to listen to it once or twice to do a review of it, sometimes they just skim through an album and grade it

I first heard it, I was like what the fuck. The beats were not typical 2Pac, and they were not catchy. I guess critics, in fact with all of Jay-Z's latest ratings, I know critics basically go by beats. It's 2Pac's words that catch you, and they don't catch that, just a punchline or bouncy beat. Perfect example, The Dynasty.

I enjoy that album more than All Eyez on Me so I have no idea why they hate on it.

It's a more focused and involved effort than All Eyes On Me.  Tha 7 Day Theory, when I first heard it, I was dissapointed, then it grew on me, and my sophmore year of highschool that album helped me through alot of hard times.  I must have listened to it a thousand times, it even brought me to tears on occasion.  It's a classic for sure.  Although today I listen to Me Against the World the most out of the Pac albums.

I was bumping the 7 day theory yesterday & I was thinking the same thing. It's definatly classic & like Geezy said it's one of the most revealing records. "Hail Mary" just proved how powerful with words Pac could be. The only song I wasn't really feelin' in my first few listens was "Toss It Up" but I can listen throughout without skipping that track nowadays  :)

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

I Loved This Album, Not As Good As "All Eyez On Me" Or "Me Against The World" But Still Very Impressive. Production Wise It Wasn't The Greatest Of Albums, But It Has Som Very Good Tracks.

7 Day Theory is classic, but Me Against The World and All Eyez On Me are both a little better. I dont see how or why anyone could hate on the 7 Day Theory though. That has to be one of the deepest albums ever made....

"So tell me why you changed/
choose a new direction/
In the blink of an eye/
My time away just made perfection/
Did you think I'd die/
Not gone cry why should I care/
Like we holdin' on a lost love/
That's no longer There/
Can you please help me/"

Those words used to hit painstakingly close to home for me.  I'm white, and I love "White Manz World".... go figure.

The 7 Day Theory and Me Against The World I would say defined 2Pac and his career. I didn't even pick up Makaveli until 2 years ago, because I really didn't like the way Death Row made the cover. After hearing the album, I'll just say that in his words, lyrics and delievery, you can tell his whole heart was in it. Just like Me Against The World.
