Infinite's AIM Discussion With A Jay-Z Fan
« on: February 08, 2002, 07:40:26 AM »
I wanted to post this because I thought this was an informative and intelligent hip-hop discussion, Jay-Z vs. Nas discussion, that we all argue about often.  It was with another homie from the WCC, I to tha Geezy, props to him, peace.

(Part one, Loose Talk)

Infinite9559: Nas has a song
Infinite9559: you live by Isreal right?
I GEEZY: what song?
Infinite9559: Nas has a song where he says he digs, "Isrealite books"
Infinite9559: what's an Isrealite book?
I GEEZY: it might be tha lost writingz found in tha juda desert...
Infinite9559: tell me more about those writings?
I GEEZY: lol...i know they waz found somewhere in tha 60z
I GEEZY: and they got all kindz of previously unheared\unreleased old dayz writingz...
I GEEZY: from tha times of tha bible...
I GEEZY: lol....i know they put those piecez into musimz world wide tho i ain"t sure...i also heared somethin bout tha vatikan taking them...
Infinite9559: wow man.... so you think if I asked some Muslims at my mosque about Isrealite books they could tell me
I GEEZY: ....some might know...ecpesially if some of them used to live here..
I GEEZY: there waz even a sience fiction shit made about them...saying dat one of these contaned KAINz confesion of killing hiz brother...
I GEEZY: written wit blood...lol
I GEEZY: where can i digg this nas track?
I GEEZY: iz it one of those mixtapez\ unreleased formally...?
Infinite9559: the album "It Was Written"
Infinite9559: the name of the song is, "Take It In Blood" I believe

(Part two, Jay-Z vs. Nas)

Infinite9559: you like Nas?
I GEEZY: well...i loved illmatic...
I GEEZY: but since than nas been putin out garbage...and it includez it waz written imo....it didnt get havy rotation in my colection...:-)
I GEEZY: stillmatic iz aight...
I GEEZY: but still imo nas can do much better...
Infinite9559: Illmatic is the greatest, but I still love It Was Written, and I think Stillmatic will eventually be a classic as well
Infinite9559: Nas is one of my favorites
I GEEZY: well...i know that right now nas gettz lotsa love on tha board...
I GEEZY: i ain"t sure it"z all justified...imo
I GEEZY: he gettz love mainly cauze jigga iz gettin hated...ya know...?
I GEEZY: imo it"z pretty childish
I GEEZY: i can understand why you like nas....
I GEEZY: he got that amazing resemblance to tha god-RAKIM
I GEEZY: but lyricly he ain"t on par wit him (tho on illmatic he pretty much waz)
I GEEZY: he iz too inconsistent...
I GEEZY: both effortwise both while consentrating trackz on topicz...
I GEEZY: he needz more focues ya know...?
Infinite9559: Rakim-Allah...word, he's ill......yeah, you had a good description of Nas, much to inconsistent, watered down, lack of concentration
Infinite9559: you like Jigga?
I GEEZY: but imo stillmatic iz a great improvement
I GEEZY: yea i like jigga imo he iz one of tha greatest...i know you might not like it...but it"z my opinion...ya feel?...
I GEEZY: tha lyricz he craftz iz so sufisticated and well structured...and not just souond like it...
I GEEZY: yea i know peepz iz saying he iz poppy (big pile of BS btw)....but imo he got too much lyrical tallent to be considered as even near poppy...
Infinite9559: yeah, I'm with most peeps on the board, I hate Jigga, and love Nas even more for the Jigga thang.... yo, tell me more about Jigga, because your an intelligent hip-hop head, I'm trying to figure out what's so great about him
Infinite9559: he seems to always rap about his money, his business, getting women, etc.
I GEEZY: lol...i know....dat"z what i"m saying for all this time i waz on this board....to tha peepz dat hating on jigga and PEEPZ that waz hating on EM....topicz iz a rapperz choise...ya feel?...
I GEEZY: what i demand from him...as from an artistz iz to know how to deliver it...
Infinite9559: word
I GEEZY: and he sucseedz quite well doing that...
I GEEZY: hiz lyricz iz so well structured and sharp...that ya can"t believe a man wrote it and not a computer...lol
I GEEZY: take every 1.5 linez and you"ll see what im talkin bout...
Infinite9559: aiight, it just frustrates me you know, when they call him the greatest and all that, and I think he's even below average, give me an example of some of his better lyrics?
I GEEZY: you can take even one of tha trackz peepz constently hating on...all tha party jamz...
I GEEZY: it still got this shit (btw...dont take examples from vol2....cazue dat iz one real wack [iece dat almost made me stop llistenin to jigga at it"z time)
I GEEZY: that waz a bproduct of hiz frastration...and tha main reasonpeepz iz hating on him now...
I GEEZY: for 2 reasonz...it waz real wack...cazue jigga sold hiz unbelieveable skillz for tha mighty buck for that paticular album (tho came around on hiz nex)...second it got him comersial sucsess...and ya knwo how peepz tread this shit...
I GEEZY: as for lyricz....take even tha openin track of tha blueprint ...i ain"t sure i"m qquotin it right but you"ll get tha mian ifea...."if ya want a coupla BEANZ....and you don"t have a CLUE..."....LOL...and datz" just tha beginin"....
I GEEZY: hiz might iz real fast on metaphores...and he knowez how to use them without gettin off tha topic...of what he already astablished on a track...
I GEEZY: ya can take tonz of shit...from RD...from VOL3....
I GEEZY: he had some line on tha track NYMP on vol3 .....when he spittz somethin like "who knew i"ll make it BIG like ms.wallace..."...ya feel?
I GEEZY: as for NAS....hiz advantagge iz hiz vocal resemblance to tha god....
Infinite9559: good examples
Infinite9559: any more
I GEEZY: and when he even tries (usually wit no sucsess) to speak soem deep shit...it"z blown up like crazy...
I GEEZY: yea...i got tonez of examples....
I GEEZY: "i sell ice in tha winter i sell fire in hell im a hustla baby i sell water to a wail"
I GEEZY: tha track "you don"t know"

(Part 3, Jay-Z vs. Xzibit and BigJakeDoggy Dogg)

I GEEZY: damn...jigga iz braggin bout hiz milliz again...but look at hiz way to do it...
I GEEZY: i don"t see xzibit gettin hated from self procalaimin shit...
I GEEZY: just an example...
I GEEZY: yo...ya saw jakes review of "stillmatic"?
I GEEZY: on angelfire...
I GEEZY: ya read it?
Infinite9559: naw ain't read it yet, what does he say
I GEEZY: well if ya do....check how when NAS talkin bout free topicz on trackz like "smokin" jake iz saying it"z a free association eascoast gangsta rap...but when jigga does that...jake sayes he goes back to hiz shalowness...
I GEEZY: lol...jake iz reall good at convincin peepz in hiz opinionz....hiz writing iz great but i almost never agree wit it...lol
Infinite9559: you said Xzibit proclamizes materialism like Jay Z, what about Papparazi, and lines like "Fast Friday straight to meditate and biuld hunger/ and focus/ on the days and times that approach us"
Infinite9559: Xzibit brings much more intensity on the mic then Jigga
Infinite9559: "Keep the structure of the temple/ to make things simple/ my existence is a rebal through time/ only concerned with what is mine devine/ never monkey shine walking down a very thin line/"
Infinite9559: that's Xzbit at his best man
I GEEZY: na...i only gave him as an example to show how peepz sleep on some and blow otherz...
Infinite9559: Jay-Z can't fuck with that'
I GEEZY: bu imo X iz da best in da west right now...
Infinite9559: word
Infinite9559: definetely
Infinite9559: Jay-Z is X to da Z?
I GEEZY: but if we compare them...imo X  aint touchin jiggaz lyrical supremacy....again i understand how peepz might prefer hiz vocal style....but consentrating only on tha sonic quallity iz usually what beat listinerz do....and i think dat lyricz iz much more important.

It's long, I tried to delete all the extra shit, just glance over a few things and holla back, peace.

Lookout for the book in stores nationwide soon.
What you mean Xzibit aint touching Jigga lyrically?
X was maybe not 100% lyrically on Restless, but take a look at At the speed of life & 40 dayz, those are classics.

I might prefer Jigga to Nas, and to pretty much anybody, but Xzibit is one of the peeps I think is better than Jigga.
Well well, different folks different strokes ;D

That was a real interesting read, & I respect Geezy for justifying his view/oppinion of Jigga and sticking to it, even though he gets dogged on sometimes for that on here, lol. But it doesn't change my personal view on the Jigga vs. Nas situation, I just get the impression that Jigga fans put him up on a higher stool than he deserves just because he's had a grip of platinum albums. But thats just my own oppinion.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Interesting conversation alrite.  Just wanted to know in detail about these writings found in the juda desert and how they relate to religion. Also, who or what is the "vatikan"??

Peace

At the moment I bump It Was Written more than any other Nas stuff.. the first half of Stillmatic is dope, and illmatic.. well just is dope... but i don't bump it as much. It was written does have a few watered down tracks.. but so does stillmatic. (e.g. i cant bear that song that samples 'Everybody wants to rule the world')

btw: u need to join wcc chat...  ;)
