Billy Preston wrote "You are So Beautiful" for Joe Cocker.  There's this story that circulates among beach boy fans, Dennis Wilson and Billy Preston were really good friends, and they were at a party with several other people a few months before "You Are So Beautiful" popped up, Dennis by then had a really raspy vocal, and was helping Preston write the song, at the party.  Preston already had the hook "you are so beautiful", and Dennis helped him arrange out the rest of the song and wrote a few lyrics.  He always went uncredited though, I believe because Billy already had the best parts written and Dennis just helped a little bit.  Dennis used to sing it at every Beach Boys concert.
