Rappin' 4-Tay - Bigga Than Da Game appreciation
« on: June 14, 2006, 06:17:50 AM »
I know people have talked on here before about how underrated Rappin'4-Tay is, but I've been listening to a lot of his albums during the past few weeks and I just wanted to say it again - the guy is a Bay legend. Smooth, effortless flow and some of the funkiest tracks I've heard.

'Off Parole' has to be viewed as a Bay classic, even if people not up in that scene haven't heard of it. But IMO his next two albums, '4 Tha Hard Way' and 'Bigga Than Da Game' are every bit as good.

'Bigga Than Da Game' was a lot more underground in terms of distribution and publicity, but it's an amazing album for anyone who hasn't heard it - 4-Tay perfects the smooth style he started on 'Off Parole'... there's literally not one bad track on the disc.

Post your thoughts on this Bay OG and some of the dopest tracks from his hey-day :) 8)

Love the 4Tay of old....most recently all thats been heard from him is a freestyle released from prison...

This album was good, "Can U Feel Me" with Spice 1 was my favourite song, and I think one song at the end of the LP "Ghetto bluez" was great also...

last week I bumped Gangsta Gumbo LP, the quality / mastering SUCKS and so does a few of the tracks, but I gota say "Burnin Burnin" With Eastwood is one hell of a song

Yeah, that was the only track I liked on Gangsta Gumbo... the mastering/beats/inlay design/pretty much everything was horrible on that album... hope he drops something else soon to regain his crown lol...

'Ghetto Bluez' was amazing, but like I said, I think every track on that album is tight as hell.

BTW Rudki, I fucked up on that Messy CD... way too busy for my own good... I'll sort you out fella, sorry :-[ :)

Give '4 Tha Hard Way' and 'Bigga Than Da Game' a spin - exactly the same vibe/production... incredible.

Damn, your post has gotten me really hyped on getting Bigger Than Da Game 8)

I loved the consistensy of Off Parole, he didnt talk about fucking bitches and killing children on one track to then turn around and do a track about world peace on the next. I gotta agree that was a classic!

Imma be sure to pick up Bigger THan Da Game too  8)
