talib kweli on his song with quik
« on: January 28, 2002, 07:23:14 AM »
"I have a record with DJ Quik on my album.  People are going to either love it or hate it," he added.  "He reached out to me as much as I reached out to him. One thing that I had to correct my mind about in this industry is that I came into this with the type of music I make and think that certain cats ain't really listening to it or they ain't checking for me, and then I meet them and they have as much love and respect for me as I have for them. That really changed my perception and allowed me to grow some more. I was like 'Wait a minute,' and I saw that I can't fall victim to separatism and the divisiveness of the industry. Because I like and respect the Lox and they like and respect my s***.  I like and respect Jay-Z and he likes and respects my s***.  As long as someone's coming honest and true from the heart, it doesn't matter what they're talking about."
