Alot of people have said Illmatic, and while its definatly a legit canidate, I cant believe NO ONE has mentioned...............
Liquid Swords!!!! This is, in my opinion, the greatest lyrical album EVER recorded in the history of rap music. There are so many quotables on this album its just rediculous. Fuck, EVERY line spit on this album is quotable.

I gotta say Illmatic or Reasonable Doubt
However it could all change cause I just ordered Ras Kass - Soul on Ice and I will check that out.
Damn I want it already cause some of you mentioned it already
Is Soul On Ice really that good?

SOul On ICe really is that good man....props to peeps who mentioned it, it is perhaps THE classic Lyrical cd. Ras Kass himself said he spent over 7 years writing those lyrics, and just for the song "Nature of the Threat" it took him a year of research! This album has everything, from personal revelations, witty punchlines (a million of them), to striaaght hip hop boasting, and anyhting else you could ever want. This level is the best ever lyrics wise, very underrated (it only has sold 100, 000 copies), and it is done by a Westcoast artist. The thong with Ras Kass, he blew peoples heads aways cuz he rapped cuircles around eastcoast heaads on this album....nowadays, he is still tight but his flow is too arrogant and he isn't as deep as he once was. However, for one album he was perfect, and that album is SOUL ON ICE! I dare anybody to say his lyrics on this album weren't the best ever (He has them all written in the cd booklet unlike most rappers). SOUL ON ICE blows away even Illmatic (one of my favs alltime), and anything else you can think of....i guarantee, if you haven't heard Soul On Ice and you give it some serious listening, yuo will be blown away......
Peace teecee
