House signs with Nets

Former Miami Heat guard Eddie House passed on a potential opportunity to rejoin the team, agreeing to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the New Jersey Nets.

House averaged 9.8 points per game last season for the Phoenix Suns, the second highest total of his career. He also made 123 three-pointers.

Though the Heat might be looking for help at shooting guard, House believes he will get more playing time with the Nets. House last played with the Heat in 2002-03.

"He loves Pat Riley and he loved playing for Riley, but with the Heat roster the way it is, he thought it was a better fit for him going to the Nets," said House's agent, Mark Bartlestein, who added that he didn't have any in-depth talks with the Heat about specific contract terms.

The Heat, ranked 12th in the NBA in three-pointers made, has few options at shooting guard. Gary Payton made it clear he would like to rejoin the team. Shandon Anderson is a free agent, and Derek Anderson could seek a buyout because of lack of playing time.

Hornets Sign Jannero Pargo

August 9, 2006
OKLAHOMA CITY - The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that they have signed free agent guard Jannero Pargo.

“Jannero is a proven NBA player and he’ll help strengthen our backcourt with his ability to play both guard positions and his shooting range,” said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower. “We had him targeted for this role with us from the start of the summer and we’re thrilled that we were able to make it happen.”

Pargo (6-1, 175) is a four-year NBA veteran, holding career averages of 5.0 points and 1.8 assists in 154 games while a member of the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Toronto Raptors.

The undrafted product of the University of Arkansas appeared in a career-high 57 games and played in a career-best 645 minutes (11.3 mpg) for the Chicago Bulls during the 2005-06 season, averaging 4.8 points, 1.6 assists and 1.1 rebounds. He also shot a career-best .379 from the three-point line (39-103 3FG).

They most likely will make it somewhere between a 6th-3rd seed, however, you never know, most of their players are injury prone and the Eastern Conference is getting stronger...PeACe

ok I can agree w/ that, they are a hit and miss type of team but I see them winning their division again
