Come inside for some DOPE Hip Hop part VIII...

Oh Shit!!  I got some dope shit right here.  This is one that I've been steady searching for for months on YouTube, and I finally found it.

This beat is so smooth - I think it's one of my all time favorite samples.  I'm sure you've heard it sampled by some other cats, but I believe these were the first ones to flip it in a hip hop song.  Needless to say, lots of other cats turned to sampling this same beat cuz they recognized how perfect a loop it was.  And to this day, that sample is still my favorite element of the song.  Sick.

The bass line fits the song perfect and gives it a nice bottom - it sounds like a live bass.  Of course it has some sick scratchin, dope voice samples.  The best one is when he drops the "The World is Very Different Now" - it's very ominous sounding.

Anyway, the name of the song is "Funky Dividends" by 3x Dope.  Don't confuse them with 3x Crazy from the Bay - 3x Dope dropped like 5 years before them.  These guys were from Philly.

Make sure you check out E.S.T. "The Overlord of Fresh" rockin the gumby.  That's the dude rappin.  He's got a great voice, and a real conversational style of rapping in this song.  He's basically talking about being with this girl and she's hitting him up for all his cash.  He's wondering if she's only with him for his money, and basically telling us to watch out so it doesn't happen to you.  So it's a great theme for a song, and he keeps it cohesive.  He doesn't drift off in a bunch of tangents, it's very focused.  But don't take that as meaning he doesn't drop some ill lines to show off his rap skills.

Anyways, turn up your fuckin speakers and feel this shit, and drop some feedback motherfuckers!!

I know for sure that Dre or Warren used it on some unreleased stuff, and it's also sampled by The Ghetto Boys.  And I've actually got a few West Coast tracks in mind that I've found.  There's one in particular that I haven't found yet that I want to do first though.

Props! 8)

Yep thats the one you want.  That's a very difficult album to find - it's out of print and about $75 on ebay...I'd love to hear it myself! ;)
