L. James, Bryant Named Players of the Month

NEW YORK, April 2, 2007 – The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for March, 2007.
James ranked first among Eastern Conference players averaging 30.3 points in helping guide Cleveland to an 11-5 record for March. He opened the month with five straight games of 32 points or more and had eight games of 31 or more points. He scored a season-high 41 points and added eight assists and seven rebounds on March 7 in leading the Cavaliers to their first win in Detroit in over three years, and posted 32 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in a 91-85 win over Houston on March 5.

Bryant led the NBA with an average of 40.4 points in March. He became only the second player in NBA history to score 50 or more points in four straight games joining Wilt Chamberlain (seven straight games). Bryant totaled 65 points, seven rounds and three steals in a 116-111 win over Portland on March 16, and registered 50 points and seven rebounds in a 111-105 win over New Orleans on March 23.

LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
March 5 vs. Houston: Had 32 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists in 91-85 win over the Rockets.

March 7 at Detroit: Notched 41 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals in a 101-97 overtime win over the Pistons.

March 10 at Milwaukee: Tallied 32 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals in a 94-92 win over the Bucks.

March 17 vs. Utah: Registered 24 points, a season-high 17 rebounds, nine assists and two blocks in a 82-73 win over the Jazz.

March 31 at Chicago: Posted 39 points, nine assists, five rebounds and three steals in a 112-108 overtime win over the Bulls.


Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
March 16 vs. Portland: Poured in 65 points along with seven rebounds, three steals and three assists in a 116-111 win over the Trail Blazers.

March 18 vs. Minnesota: Recorded 50 points and added six rebounds, three assists and three steals in a 109-102 win over the Timberwolves.

March 22 at Memphis: Tallied 60 points, five rebounds and four assists in a 121-119 win over the Grizzlies.

March 23 at New Orleans/Okla. City: Had 50 points, seven rebounds and one assist in a 111-105 win over the Hornets. Became just second player in NBA history to post 50 or more points in four straight games.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month were Boston’s Al Jefferson, Charlotte’s Gerald Wallace, Detroit’s Tayshaun Prince, Houston’s Tracy McGrady, L.A. Clippers’ Elton Brand, Miami’s Shaquille O’Neal and Philadelphia’s Andre Iguodala.

yeah thats great but that sad truth is Kobe may go down as the greatest basketball player to never win an MVP award.

In this case the MVP award will miss one of the best player in history as a winner. So fuck it.
