Ludacris Turning Into Angry Elf For Vince Vaughn Flick

On his 2000 debut album, Inconegro, Ludacris rapped incessantly about ho's. Now, with Chris Bridges hoping to maintain his newfound movie-star momentum, he's saying "ho, ho, ho" instead.
Luda has joined the merry cast of "Fred Claus," a Christmas comedy starring Vince Vaughn, Kevin Spacey and Paul Giamatti. The flick, which marks the follow-up effort by "Wedding Crashers" director David Dobkin, began production Monday in London.
The "Elf"-like "Claus" tells the story of Fred (Vaughn), the ne'er-do-well older brother of Santa Claus (Giamatti). While the younger brother grew up to become the embodiment of selflessness and giving, Fred instead became a scummy repo man who steals things after he repossesses them. When Santa's older brother lands himself in jail, the jelly-bellied saint agrees to bail him out on one condition: that he work off his debt by making toys at the North Pole. After Fred's coal-in-the-stocking demeanor slows down productivity in Santa's workshop, the selfish elf is forced to help deliver toys on Christmas Eve, pushing brotherly love to the brink.
"Superman Returns" star Spacey plays an abrasive efficiency expert assigned to make the North Pole operations run more smoothly. His answer to the problem — outsourcing the work to another country — further increases the level of tension in the supposedly jolly workshop. Coming off high-profile roles in "Hustle & Flow" and "Crash," Ludacris will make "Claus" his first comedy, and he'll play an angry elf troubled by Fred's sudden presence. Fans of the Atlanta rapper won't likely be surprised by his comedic yearnings, as his career has always depended heavily on lighthearted tracks like "Move Bitch" and "Number One Spot" — the video for which had him dressing up as many of the characters from the "Austin Powers" movies while mugging alongside Verne "Mini Me" Troyer.
Ludacris' new CD Release Therapy is currently in the #1 spot on the Billboard albums chart, and he has recently appeared on "Law & Order: SVU" and "The Boondocks."
Co-starring Elizabeth Banks ("The 40-Year-Old Virgin") and John Michael Higgins ("The Break-Up"), "Fred Claus" will be released on November 9, 2007.
