STICK TO ONE TEAM!
« on: November 03, 2006, 03:02:50 AM »
OK, I Am REALLY Getting Annoyed At People Who Say "My Favorite Team is ______, But I Like ________ Also"
Its kinda like a safety net if say your team does not do well, go far in the playoffs, etc....Then you are all like "Oh I Always Liked _______"
Being A FAN Of a SPORT Is not the same as admiring at team, people try to use that excuse too (But End Up Jumping on a bandwagon and rooting for a team)
Example:
Dude is a fan of the lakers, but he "Likes" the clippers
Lakers lose 1st round of the playoffs, clippers advance, dude jumps on the bandwagon and says he has always been there for them, he always "Liked" them....
Fuck that shit, I WATCH other basketball games, but i dont choose teams, i am a fan of only one team (for every sport)

Anyway, thats what i think

I'm a hardcore Rockets fan but I will cheer on certain teams during the playoffs.  The Kings during the Lakers dynasty, Lakers last year against the Suns, Spurs over Mavs and finally Heat over Mavs.

You won't see me at the bar going crazy when a team not named the Rockets are winning though, just rooting for the lesser of two evils I guess.

I'm a Patriots fan, I've seen every game since I was like 8. I can't stand bandwagoners who flip teams to who is playing well each year.

I'm a Warriors fan but I always want the West to do well. Once the Warriors are out of the playoffs I root for any team in Cali.

LOL@you telling people how to be...I only have one team, doesn't mean I can't like a certain team without really being a fan. Even Chick Hearn used to have teams he would like, because of the way their management ran things or their young up-and-comers...A bandwaggoner is someone who switches from one team to another...Last year, I wanted the Clippers to win, to rep LA and beat the bitchass Suns of course, but it didn't really move me if they didn't...That has absolutely nothing to do with being a bandwaggoner. And now that the Clippers are trying to become "rivals" with the Lakers, I'm starting to like them a lot less. When people watch a game, there's usually one team they want to win more than the other, doesn't make them disloyal to their team whatsoever...PeACe

That shit was funny when Ice Cube put Jack Nicholson on blast on Jimmy Kimmel for going to a Clippers game during the playoffs. Cube even said it in a rap. Who the fuck is a lifetime Laker. I hear what you guys are saying as far as teams. I am a Chicago Bulls fan but I like Andrew Bynum because if the Bulls had a pick that year, that was who I wanted them to get.

If your going to take shots at NIK, make it a little more discreet. As for your topic, I see nothing wrong with supporting more then one team as long as you genuinely support them. For me the only 2 teams in the NBA I like are the Lakers and the Raptors. If I had to pick my favorite team it would definatly be the Lakers. If the Lakers got kicked out of the playoffs, but the Raptors were still playing, is there anything wrong with rooting for the Raptors? I can't find a reason. I'll admit I was rooting for the Clippers when the Lakers got kicked out of last year's playoffs. Not because them winning brought any actual joy to me, but just because they are a Californian team. I would have done the same if it was the Warriors or even the Kings (since there rivalary died down). That may be the reason why I might be the only person in San Diego who likes both the Chargers and the Raiders. Watching a sport is just more fun when your rooting for a team. But I'll never claim that I am a fan of the Clippers, Warriors, Kings or 49ers fan unless they drafted someone I liked in college. Even then I doubt it because Reggie Bush was my favorite player in the 2006 NFL draft, but him being drafted by the Saints didn't increase my interest in the Saints at all.
