Mariah Carey is preparing to battle with porn star Mary Carey as the XXX Cary wants to trademark her similar-sounding stage name. Although Mary Carey has been using her stage name since 2002, Mariah’s lawyer threatened legal action this past October. In a letter sent to Mary’s reps, Mariah’s attorney, Robert Becker, said because the two women’s names were so similar, it could eventually lead to confusion between the two. While Mariah’s team is not seeking to ban Mary from using the moniker, they are asking that she refrain from singing or recording music, only using the name for her adult-themed flicks. “This is a technical procedure to stop a trademark registration. Mariah Carey has no affiliation with Mary Carey,” Mariah’s spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik told Reuters. Mary insists that she’s not giving up without a fight. “I’m ready to battle Mariah over this because I’ve been Mary Carey for a long time. “ Mary said. “I think she’s being silly.”
