RIP 2 to my PS2

well the laser finally croaked from excessive use of Swap Magic and was ruining every disc I put in with layers of circular scratches.  No game would load past the start screen, no movie would play past the first 5 minutes.  None of my 2 laser cleaning discs did shit all.  So I said to myself, before I throw it out, I might as well flash on it to vent some steam.

That sucks. At least you got a good amount of use out of it. Good thing PS2s are pretty cheap now.

Someone explain something to me.  I personally do not and cannot believe that it's possible for the laser in a dvd rom to damage the disc... you're talking about two different frequencies of lasers, they're not putting anything in a dvd rom that's capable of destruction, only data detection.   I may be wrong.  I don't believe I am, though.

If something was scratching your roms it was likely something mechanical, and not actually the laser itself.

i personally have never experienced anything like that so i really couldn't say but i have read somewhere that this guy had his 360 standing vertically and all of a sudden it fell over causing the game to be damaged, i don't think it was due to the laser but because the game was spinning at X amount of revolutions and when the system fell over it got fucked up that way.

I dunno what it was, but I tryed having my system vertically and horizontally.  Same circular scratches each time..  It must have been something touching it while it was spinning that was doing it.

Shit - I've been using Swap Magic a lot lately to play Street Fighter 3.

No problems yet tho, although I heard that it will eventually fuck up the disc drive and in turn there may bits of plastic knocking around that will scratch the discs.
