Christmas on Death Row - festive fun or a pile of shit?
« on: December 19, 2006, 08:36:00 AM »
I've been playing this at home and on my Mp3 player for a week or so now, but I'm not really sure whether that's because I like it or just because it's the only time of year I can realistically listen to it.

Sure, the opening track with Snoop, Bad Azz and others is sort of OK, and the songs by Tha Dogg Pound and Nate Dogg are actually pretty great. But the OFTB track has to be the most depressing Christmas song ever, and that awful B.G.O.T.I woman (who the fuck is she?) murders both of her songs. Danny Boy's tunes are so-so, but it doesn't help that he sounds like a queen, especially on that track where he says 'Merry Christmas from Danny Boy... and Death Row' at the start. Dude just sounds fruity.

I guess my conclusion is that this was a missed opportunity. If it had been kept to strict Death Row inmates rather than awful session R&B singers (who the fuck are Guess?), it might have been dope. Fuck, it would have been better just to have Nate singing carols for an album - seriously. I'm interested to know whether anyone else still plays this.

I think its just cos it this time of year that u can actually sit there n listen 2 it!

Granted I wud much rather listen 2 this than all the other shit xmas songs that hav bin playin 4 like the last 50 yrs, but its not really a gr8 album!
I will believe Detox when I hear a single for it and have the album in my hands.
but what if you loose your hands before Detox drops?
