Retro-Gaming?
« on: February 06, 2007, 04:31:33 PM »
A few months ago me n my mate went to our local gamestation n was lookin around n we saw sum old mega-drive (think it was called genesis in the US?) games. My mate decided he wanted 2 buy a mega-drive, so we found out where they were in stock and went and bought 1, cost him £25 ($47 ish) for console 2 controllers and 5 games.

Once we got back 2 his crib, we set it up and played Golden Axe, Sonic & Streets of Rage and I realised how much I enjoyed these games back in the day. A couple of weeks later my gf's mum found their old mega drive in a cupboard n we set in up and ever since we just bin playin the fuck outta Sonic, Sonic 2 etc...

Last week the Sega Mega Drive collection came out for PSP, best 20 quid I ever spent on a game! Adapted really well 2 play on PSP!

Anyway I decided 2 buy a Nintendo N64, as I always had a gr8 time playin on 1 of those! Got console n 5 games for £28 ($52 ish). But since I bought it last week I havent been able 2 play it cos the RF lead isnt workin and Im still waitin 4 the fuckin S Video cable 2 arrive that I bought off ebay!

Sum games look fuckin wack these days, but others like sonic and mario are still gr8 fun 2 play and hav aged really well!

So any1 else in2 playin retro games?
I will believe Detox when I hear a single for it and have the album in my hands.
but what if you loose your hands before Detox drops?

Mega Games 2 (which was Streets Of Rage, Golden Axe & Revenge Of Shinobi on one catridge) may have been the greatest compilation ever released.

I still play the SOR series via emulator (I got a PC one, plus PicoDrive on my moby which lets me kick ass on the go!). 16 bit music never sounded so good......8)

i've got a PC hooked up under my HDTV and i've now got a USB to Playstation controller so i plan to put emulators on the PC and use the playstation controller.. another option could be using a wiimote + bluetooth like how the wii does its virtual console stuff once decent windows wiimote drivers come out

i also have a GP32 handheld which runs emulators.. NES + megadrive are the best on it

Ain't nothing better than playing Final Fight and other original arcade games on the old Xbox...  8)
