CHICAGO -- Jeff Samardzija decided to give up football and stay with baseball.

The former Notre Dame receiver, projected as a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, agreed Friday to a $10 million, five-year contract to pitch for the Chicago Cubs.

Good choice... however, being a Notre Dame fan, I believe he would've done great in the NFL though.

I'm more of a baseball fan. I'd play baseball before football.

He's also a top pitching prospect, if not the number one pitching prospect.  If baseball doesn't work out, he can still make a smooth transition back to football which can't be done the other way around.

What are you so ticked about? I'm glad my team got a great pitcher. Our pitching has been killing us lately, and hopefully this signing works out.

Hell no bro. I hate the damn White Sox. I can't stand people that have two teams in the same sport, much less two teams in the same sport from the same city. I was rooting for the Tigers in the World Series because I hate the Cardinals. If the Cubs can't win it I'll happily root for the Twins over the Sox any day.
