Chicago Bulls REALLY fucked up

Man, I am getting frustrated with this team. Ok the Elton Brand trade for Tyson Chandler that had me heated for a while but we got Eddy Curry also and while it took a couple of years for them to blossom, I thought they made a good combo. Chandler- excellent defender and rebounder, Curry- good low post scorer. So Curry did not want to take a 2nd heart test so we traded him. The Chandler trade I did not understand but ok, I could understand it for clearing cap space. We get PJ Brown's expiring contract for the purpose of packaging it for a trade and we get JR Smith. We give away JR Smith and do no trades and keep Brown, who can sign freely with whoever he wants. All the pieces we gave up are doing well on other teams and are the missing parts we need to be the east's best.

Eddy Curry- Beast this year, when he puts in the effort, he is almost unstoppable

Tyson Chandler- Defensive stopper and rebounder. Avg 17 rebounds for the month

J.R. Smith- excluding injuries and the brawl, has been a consistant scorer and 3 point shooter

Elton Brand- Nuff said

Tim Thomas- outside shooting

What could have been:

Hinrich, Smith/Gordon, Deng, Chandler, Curry. (I still put Smith there because I think we could have picked him up without a trade and I am a JR fan)

Yeah their GM-activities have been horrible for years... funny also how they overpay and aged Ben Wallace when Chandler is basically a younger version of him.

How they didn't push for Gasol is insane, too.

I think they panicked when they did make the playoffs. From a rebuilding standpoint, where we are at now makes no sense. They pulled the plug on that too early. They did overacheive to get to the playoffs 3 years ago but they were young, playing great defense and they were still learning how to win games. They would be OWNING the East if they would have kept that team together. I was looking back at that team and other than adding a shooter to either back up Gordon or to start, we did not need to trade anyone.

I mean, look at their payroll, it's crazy. http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/chicago.htm

Nobody, except the expiring contract of Brown and Big Ben is making money there. If they hadn't signed Big Ben, they would be able to pay Garnett as much as he deserves next year. He'd come to Chicago, hands down.

And to top that, now they are scared to make a trade to further "set the team back". They already did that IMO. The bench is good but we are a jump shooting team. When the jump shots are falling, we get big leads but later in the game we get tired and those shots stop falling and we have NO inside scoring half the time. And Ben Wallace can only do so much on that team. The Detroit game was a repeat performance of what happens with this team almost every game we lose.

Yeah, that's true. Now I don't know if they will be able to do that or have the patience to wait. They obviously do not want to trade anymore pieces and we do not have the luxury of having a high pick to get one of the great college players that might come out so I am confused as to what they are going to do.

Yeah that would've been a great young team. The best part is they're all around the same age so they would be in their primes together. The Bulls are still a talented team, but imagine if they had Curry/Chandler instead of Wallace/Brown  :o

That just goes to show: you can't give up on your young players too soon (ex: The Celtics with Billups, the Trailblazers with Jermaine O'Neal).

Chandle/Curry was a ticket into the NBA finals. The east is so weak, and a team with a strong inside game would have a great chance of winning the conference. There is no other team in the east that has inside talent.
